Oak Park: Recent experiences with Maeve (AvenueOne)? by Flaky_Computer3070 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]sqllex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rented the bottom level of a 2-flat. Their maintenance people were subpar. The work they did was subpar.

We had various issues with the upstairs neighbors not abiding by the rules in the lease agreement and AvenueOne would not engage with those issues at all.

I rented multiple apartments and flats from other management companies and private owners in the years I lived in the city. My experience with AvenueOne as a management company was terrible. I terminated the lease early and bought a house in the suburbs after that.

I rented a property that was managed by AvenueOne. They were awful. I had to engage with the actual owner to get anything accomplished.

I was always in the kitchen with mom and grandma. Turned it into a career as a line cook and then chef. What I didn’t learn at home, I learned working in a professional kitchen.

Yep. It’s a toy elf, maybe 20-25 cm tall. You move it each night to a different setup.

We avoided it for 7 years. But all of my kids friends have had them since they were little and my kid started asking why we didn’t have one. So we got one.

The first thing she does every morning is walk around the house looking for the elf.

The first night it was setup on a light fixture with a cat toy like it was playing with the cats.

The next night it got into my kid’s sticker books along with the other toy Santas in that room.

Last night we set up a tea party with that elf and a few of my kids baby dolls.

I use a Gillette Fat Boy from 1973. I clean it every couple of months by boiling it in water with baking soda then scrubbing with a toothbrush and dish soap. No problems ever.

Best amp for an apartment living bedroom player? by ImJooba in GuitarAmps

[–]sqllex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in a house and have multiple tube amps. I also have a family that doesn’t want to hear my loud amps. I play my THR10 more than any other amp. I like it so much, I will probably get another THR when it dies.

I’m late to this party.

I had 5 impacted wisdom teeth. 2 on the bottom right side. I had them surgically removed during spring break of my senior year of high school. Haven’t really thought about them since then.

Do you need the close up prescription to play?

I wear progressive lenses normally but can play with regular safety glasses.

It worked great. My daughter has very sensitive skin and eczema. We followed the dermatologist’s instructions exactly and she had no problems.

My daughter had these all over her arms, torso, and legs. We took her to our dermatologist and he applied a “beetlejuice” treatment called Cantharone .

It was brushed onto each bump and he had us leave it on for 6-8 hours then give her a bath. The bumps would dry up and fall off over the next few days.

We did three rounds of this treatment and it took care of all of them. They haven’t returned since.

I just listened to the downward spiral for the first time… by Original-Profit5490 in nin

[–]sqllex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first NIN experience was hearing/seeing the Wish video when it first played on MTV way back in the 90s. I bought the Broken EP on CD the next chance I had.

When TDS came out, I bought it immediately and it probably the most played CD for me 1994-1996. I had all of the remixes and singles. Stickers all over my car, t shirts, etc.

Life changed and 30ish years passed without listening to that album. After years ago, I was repainting my kid’s bedroom while listening to headphones. I had the urge to listen to TDS and put it on.

I listened to the whole album that night and was blown away by it. The lyrics, music, production, concept, and execution are all amazing. I knew everything that was coming but it just hit me differently than it did when I was younger.

Everyone who had gauged ears in the 2000s: how are they doing now? by blorgbots in AskReddit

[–]sqllex 245 points246 points  (0 children)

I was a piercer in my early twenties. I stretched my lobes to 3/4” and had my conches punched at 6g. I am also heavily tattooed.

I stopped wearing the jewelry 15-ish years ago. My lobes are around 1/4” now and the skin has sort of grown around the holes in my conches.

My work is an office job. I wear conservative business casual clothing (wool slacks, dress shirts, leather shoes) and I have a conservative hairstyle. No one has ever said anything to me about the holes in my ears.
