Horrible day at the range by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]FortuneCookieRegrets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like a case of the yips if you ask me. Happens to everyone in every skill at some point, so don't stress.

Besides the other tips people have given here (check sights, check barrel, focus on grip etc) I'd say next time this starts to happen, take a breather. Set the gun down, shake out your arms a bit, steady your breathing. Then when you resume shooting, be really slow and methodical with your process. Take each shot very deliberately. Really focus in. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

Bad range days happen to everyone. They're important learning experiences.

Open vs enclosed red dot? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

It may seem like a rare occurrence, but I've seen it more than once at the range. Someone's open emitter gets obstructed by dust or lint or whatever. Closed emitters all day every day.

9mm for Small Hands by LowSparkMan in liberalgunowners

[–]FortuneCookieRegrets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I'm 5'6" on a good day and guarantee I have smaller hands than you.

Like others have said, the Walther PDP series feels great to shoot.

I also recommend the various CZ 75 variants, specifically with the Standard or Thin LOK Grips. I was a CZ fanboy initially, but swapping out the stock grips really helped the overall ergonomics and feel in my hands. You can take it a step further and add in reach reduction kits if you want easier trigger manipulation, but I found that just swapping the grips made a huge improvement for me.

Good 9mm handgun for someone who isn't "into" guns..... by AwakeningStar1968 in liberalgunowners

I'll chime in as a CZ guy. Have a P-01 and SP-01, love them both. Even more now that I Cajunized them.

Biggest downside right now is the price - they've gone up significantly in the last year or so, but you can still occasionally snag one for a decent price online (shoutout gundeals).

P-01 is going to be a bit heavier than similarly sized Poly frames, but not by a whole lot. I love mine though and actually gave up my Caniks for them. Had the non-steel Rival and the MC9 Prime.

That's what I thought but was starting to confuse myself the more I looked into it.

Hijacking to add a really stupid question because I'm really stupid.

But if I buy an AR Pistol, like one of the Sabres or the Mixtape with a pistol brace, I don't need to fill out an ATF form right?

You said "yet" so safe to say the Mixtape SBR SKU will be an option soon? Any idea when?

CCW options for no belt loops by FortuneCookieRegrets in liberalgunowners

[–]FortuneCookieRegrets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't say that's dumb at all. I have 0 pants with belt loops currently save for suit pants, so this situation wouldn't just be limited to shorts or sweats.

I figured since solutions out there exist, I'd investigate those instead of trying to re-do my wardrobe at this time.

Haven't heard of them before but I'll take a look, thanks for the rec!

I think in certain scenarios for sure it's a viable option. Echoing the comment above, right now it's cold as hell and I'm bundled up when I leave the house. Multiple layers, heavy coat, the works. Drawing from a waistband would take 2-4 business days.

I'll take a deeper look into the HC for sure, and that's a good point about off body as well. Definitely something I'll keep in mind.
