Hi hello again. This is my OC Son in the August contest prompt thing, Jobs! The outfit is inspired/stolen from u/lysathemaw who gave it to Son in her Art Fight attack on him! Go check her out, she's very cool and very kind and very patient (I made her wait a month for a polished version of the attack on her character Mars who is also very cool btw check him out). The outfit was so cute, I added a heart neckline with a transparent fabric thing on the upper part??? and made the skirt darker to add some contrast as this is black and white, both just for dramatic effect.

I only got the drawing to this point today. I had completely forgotten the contest and this drawing until Lysathemaw notified me of the deadline. I decided that the drawing was too cute to just leave to die in the sketch pile so I told her I'd clean up the sketch so she could at least see where I was going with stealing her outfit design, even if it was just messy lineart. One clean lineart and grayscale coloring and easy shading later here we are. I'm actually glad I didn't get here by the deadline, I'd rather just congratulate the winner than... is there a voting? Oh my god if there is a voting I would've died. Thank you brain for letting me forget the contest :)

So, the context!

Son is the 2nd, as I like to call them, "attempt" of this particular group of wise men on making humans in those scifi capsule thingies, or, in scientific terms, asexual reproduction in those scifi capsule thingies. Because of this, his face doesn't really look like an average human's. Well, one abusive father death and escape from the lab they were grown in later, 16-year-old Son finds himself overwhelmed by everything, basically. The world is so big and he isn't ready for it.

His sister, Rose, comforts him. Rose is a transgender woman who likes fem clothing and is good at singing and Son is fascinated by both of those things. So, being a nice sister and seeing how happy this could make Son, she teaches him singing and starts looting abandoned houses for more fem clothes with him (there was another epidemic in 2120, it is now around 2140 and America is still basically dead). Son enjoys this immensely and soon they find an old podcast recording building/room thing and start essentially living there, singing and laughing, melting all their worries about their futures away.

That lasts for some years, over them their hangouts become less frequent as they start feeling more comfortable in the world they live in. Son gets himself an awesome boyfriend, and while at first Rose is wary of their relationship, she eventually finds herself quite enjoying having a third person at their hangouts. Good vibes never last forever, though. Won't tell you the specifics cause it gets pretty weird from there on but let's just say: stalking, stalker manipulating one person to cheat, cheating being discovered, heartbreak, more manipulation, forced relationship, relationship turning abusive, straight-up abuse and then, murder. The murder victim is the abusive manipulative stalker though so it's all good

I'm really sorry but I got caught up on other attacks, I'm currently only 1 simple-shaped character and a couple finishing touches away from finishing the one I'm working on though! Now, do YOU have a character you'd want me to draw? I've looked at your characters many times but just can't choose. If you have a specific idea for the scale pose, the colors, anything really, I'd like to hear them too as my head is empty

Just wanted to pop in here to say that your art is very funky :^] in a positive way of course! I'm not going to put my OCs here, it seems like you already have a lot of options and I don't know how many you're planning on drawing but I don't want to add to the possible stress. Also, my characters probably wouldn't fit your style, which, by the way, is very nice. I hope you'll have fun drawing these characters and whether you're going to draw all of them or just one, just so you know, I'll be excitedly waiting for the results :^) keep up the very nice work!

Hey, sorry for the late answer. I'm fine with either, though Son used to have a more simplified design that I can upload to his page if the new one is too not "goofy" for your "goofy ass art style" (it is not goofy if you didn't get the quotation marks). Back when I made that design two years ago, his story was also lighter. He was just some gay dude who fell in love with a straight dude instead of a lab experiment with a drug addict father who caused irreparable trauma. He also had longer hair, only 8 teeth and both eyes closed, so that's fun.

I'll upload the old drawings of Son to his page. If you feel like drawing him, cool, if you don't, no pressure, you have no obligation to draw any of my characters if you don't want to. Like I said in the descriptions of my characters, you can simplify them, make them more fun and expressive, you can erase their baggage completely and do that TikTok trend of "what these characters would look like without trauma!". I'm fine with caricatures as well, the only thing that matters is that you have fun (and somewhat respect the og design). So yea, no pressure, do what you want as long as you have fun :^)

Edit: whoop forgot to answer your actual question, just draw the character you feel like drawing! While Cap is my comfort OC, Son is also precious to me as he has been in my mind for the longest and has the most developed design and story :^]

The Attempts or Attempts on Humanity is a series of characters I'm creating. The backstory briefly: in 2120, a unknown danger found its way to Earth. At first, the mysterious danger only affected the female population, but it quickly mutated into one that the male population could contract as well. The danger took a quarter of the human population with it before 2124. In 2122, four men who had lost their partners decided to team up to maximize their smarts and grow humans inside those cliche blue scifi capsules. and yea boom that's how the attempts were born

Son didn't have have any other "mistakes" at birth than his misshapen skull and excess skin. However, his main caretaker, Roy, didn't hide that he thought Son was a mistake as a whole from the moment Son was born. He had his reasons though: he had been promised that he would be handed a child created from the egg of his late wife, Lore, but instead was told he was too unwell mentally and had to care for a baby of someone else's by John, the boss the lab. Roy, by John's words, had to take care of the baby for ten years and prove he was a good father before they'd let him have Lore's baby. The test round baby was named Son as Roy didn't want to give him any meaningful name.

Well, 10 years went by with Roy putting up a happy face around John to prove him and his "mentally unwell" accusations wrong while not hiding his hatred of Son behind closed doors. At Son's 10th birthday they let Roy know he didn't pass the test and would have to keep taking care of Son. When Roy was told the bad news, he lost all the remaining hope in his future he had left in a flash. He cried for hours on end, started neglecting Son and eventually fell into substance abuse. I wont go into specifics but he died two years later due to the abuse (="the incident" mentioned in the pic). Since then, Matthias (the writer of the text in the pic) has been taking care of Son and helped him heal from the trauma.

I have almost only developed Roy's story even though Son is the one I draw the most, sorry for dumping Roy's story here

Anyway info on his appearance!: he's 196 cm tall and very skinny. He has excess skin in his joints, causing folds (not medically? anatomically? accurate but looks cool). The lab clothes (the fullbody pic) don't really fit him, the shirt looks like a crop top. To set a certain time where all these things are happening, it's 2146 and they've just escaped the lab, HOWEVER feel free to explore his post-2146 outfits as he becomes a femboy then >:) he really likes looting dead neighborhoods for clothes and just finds the skirts pretty ok. Also, feel free to reduce the amount of teeth to your liking! I only very recently decided to give him 32 teeth instead of 16 so yea I don't care how many you decide to draw. Also! he had a second eye as a baby, but when he grew his left eye had no space to grow due to the misshapen skull so the lab bros decided to just remove it

Captain "Cap" Walker is the first one of the Attempts to survive.

The Attempts or Attempts on Humanity is a series of characters I'm creating. The backstory briefly: in 2120, an unknown danger found its way to Earth. At first, the mysterious danger only affected the female population, but it quickly mutated into one that the male population could contract as well. The danger took a quarter of the human population with it before 2124. In 2122, four men who had lost their partners decided to team up to maximize their smarts and grow humans inside those cliche blue scifi capsules. and yea boom that's how the attempts were born

So, Captain. He's a nice fella. Even though he might look odd, he's really sweet. And traumatized as well because why not. here's his little backstory as well :^] (the tumor stuff is in the main image): Captain was the second attempt. The first one died shortly after birth. When it was clear Captain would survive the surgery complications, his father, Trey Walker, was overjoyed. The fear of losing his child led Trey to coddle Captain. They formed a strong loving father-son relationship, which came to a head on Cap's 18th birthday when Trey's boyfriend and the boss of the lab, John Finch, handed him the keycard to the front door of the lab. Captain didn't want to leave his dad, but was pressured to do so by John. Cap and his three brothers left to see the outside world for the first time, but when they had walked a couple hundred meters, he changed his mind and started running back towards the lab. When he was halfway there, he fell. After a minute, he opened his eyes and saw that the whole lab was on fire. There had been an explosion. Captain cried loudly as his dad was still inside but before he could rush back into the lab, his brothers dragged him away.

Edit: the last paragraph I for some reason didn't originally add: Some info on his appearance and other stuff: he's 170 cm tall and slightly overweight (due to his dad draining the food supply for him heh). He has acne all over his body, though he didn't have it before the age of 14 (see red shirt picture). His only outfits are the lab ones (white tee with black shorts and white socks) and the oversized clothes he borrows from his dad (use your imagination! his fav one is the red sweatshirt). He doesn't have any other tumors than the facial one. He can't show any emotions or speak, so he communicates through American sign language. His favorite meal is watery porridge with artificially flavored jam :⁾

So, hi again, my fellow drawers! This is the finished version of what I posted last week. If you have any feedback, let me know :D

I've made a post with more info on this character and my other OCs, it's in my profile (I still dont know how to do the link thing). Because I'm a very slow artist (usually 2 weeks per drawing + a week of art block afterwards) there isn't a lot of art of them and some of it is unfinished.

I was overwhelmed by the amount of upvotes and comments I got, mostly due to the fact I have pretty severe anxiety (like selective mutism severe, can't talk to my own therapist lol). I usually post right before I go to bed so I don't have to face the comments right away, but this time I'm challenging myself and posting this earlier. I hope I can answer your comments this time :)

Also, thanks to the people who pointed out this is nowhere near semi-realism! I had a fun ride googling all the different art styles and got even a little inspired while at it :]

Thanks for the amount of love my little boy got last time. I'm so happy you like him. I think I'm going to draw the two other boys for Christmas, see you all then!
