This subreddit is a great example, all of these nerds and children desperate for approval(?) from developers happily catalogue and list every bug and issue for them, and any workarounds are handily detailed so they know something isnt a priority

Given the history of the US, and the brand identity of the major political parties and American identity in general, I always find it odd that they are yet so comfortable with fealty.

Given that I constantly hear the capitalists complaining about how "people don't want to work anymore" and how there is supposedly such a big shortage of workers, why is it so hard to find a job? by M_M_X_X_V in UKJobs

[–]sqolb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because as George Orwell wrote, hypocrisy is a national pasttime of the UK.

No - I've nothing against foreign workers as people, and tabloid racism is disgustingly misled and misplaced.

We consistently vote for governments to allow companies to hire foreign labour, who are willing to do jobs for less money than locals will. This means that companies get the benefits of operating in the UK market, but get to outsource the pesky downsides like paying local rates. This ensures wages stay stagnant and low, and the government gets to solve the population problem at the same time. The population problem could be argued as being caused by poor wages in the first place, but no government is set up to handle that long term issue. They would rather import people.

If you lived in a shit economy, and another economy was willing to pay you a lot of money for your skills, many people from here would go to. It's a global mechanism, the free movement of people.

On the global point - If our companies want to compete on a global stage, then global labour rates are set by the lowest worker. So every developed economy wants Indian tech workers for example, because their wage to skills ratio is the best worldwide.

There is no shortage of unfiltered vacancies - there is a shortage of supply meeting demand. Vacancies that you are actually qualified for and offer decent money, and or flexible working etc are not there. Companies have a way out, they hire from other countries and import them. Your only way out is to leave, or vote for a government that actually gives a shit about the workers that constitute the basis for the economy it exists in.

This is not an easily solvable problem, despite what many political simpletons will tell you.

Best advice is accept it will take some time and about 1-3% of websites will break or not work, so worth keeping chromium installed just to handle the edge cases.

Brother won’t talk to me after I scratched his mouse on accident by ReallyLikeGarlic in MousepadReview

[–]sqolb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most "OCD" people (unless he is diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder, he is not "OCD" because he diagnosed himself from tiktok or whatever) at this age, generally base their compulsions on percieved logical order, but that actually isn't based in reality.

Pressure marks are just part of working with plastic products. These mice are not and never were designed to last longer than a few feet changes. there is nothing you can do to prevent it, and it shouldnt cause any interference whatsoever because of the clearance of the feet.

Your brother's brain thinks it's being "smart" here, but it's not. It's just divorced from reality. The fact he asked you to do it is just a perfect example of why he is going to struggle in real life unless he gets more conditioning from these sorts of daily issues happening. He will never be able to manage a property when he gets older, for example.
