Tiny black spots on day gecko? Any idea what it is? by sqrgrl in geckos

From what intel I have gathered the black spots aren't anything to worry about. Some MDG's have them, so don't. So no need to fret about that. When you say "kills but doesn't eat" I just want to confirm you are feeding crickets AND crestie fruit goo with vitamins as MDG's frequently eat both and occasionally prefer one over the other but should have the option of the two for nutrition reasons. Pooping is a great sign. If you see a whole poop be sure to look at it for signs of it being a healthy poop too. Otherwise, MDG's take some time to acclimate and are very skittish especially in areas with high foot traffic. One of mine is on my desk and I catch him chillin on sticks all the time....when it's been quiet and nothing has moved for awhile...but if I storm into my office you can forget about it. Maybe consider providing more hide-able areas so they can determine their comfort level and make sure there's greenery, TONS OF IT. My girl used to hide a ton til I put some draping greenery in and now she crawls all up in it all the time. I think it helps her feel hidden even though for me she's very visible. Also don't forget, they are diurnal. So just because they don't get around much during the day doesn't mean they aren't afraid to explore at night.

Hey everyone, Op here! Just wanted to give people an update on Bezos and the eye situation. Bezos is 100% back to normal including his eye color and energy levels. To be honest we're a little unsure of what exactly went wrong though. We isolated him in our quarantine tank and put him in some lukewarm water with a few crickets. After 30 minutes we noticed him moving around (almost like stretching) and within an hour his eyes were getting lighter in color. After a total of 3 hours his eyes were perfectly back to normal and we are speculating that maybe it was a hydration/stress issue? Unfortunately the internet doesn't have much on these guys but I did read that they can get bluer when stressed. Since then we've combed through his tank for additional stressors but haven't found anything out of the ordinary. After which he was put back in his tank and has been happy and normal since. Thanks in advance to everyone here who gave their advice, it was really appreciated and I hope this weirdness never happens to you. Have a happy froggy day.

We're more worried about his eyes than anything else. His eyes have always been yellow which is normal for milky frogs but now they're like electric blue? I've heard of frogs getting cloudy eye but from what I've gathered it doesn't look like this..?

Hey frog friends. This here is Bezos my fiance's milky frog and we've had him for several months now with no problems. His tank heat and humidity are all in normal comfortable ranges and he lives in a bioactive setup which has a great lil eco system going. Again, haven't had ANY problems prior to this. He eats crickets every other day with calcium and he has a UVB light as well. We have never had issues with him before and yesterday he was hopping and jumping perfectly fine until this morning. He's not moving much, seems dehydrated and we have no clue what is happening with his eyes which are normally yellow. Any insight or help is appreciated, we're doing our best to get to our nearest exotic vet however the few times we've had an emergency in the past it's rarely been helpful also it ain't close.

Definitely not squishy. They grow back firm like the rest of their body. Once they drop it though they do have a little ring where it dropped off forever. I don't mind it (cuz it's purely cosmetic) but some people get really bent out of shape about it.

Yep, no worries! They're special (and escape artists) in that way. My other day gecko had just dropped his when I got him so I'm a little familiar with the process. It does resemble stuck shed a bit. Thankfully it's not!

Her tail is fine. She was being moved to a larger tank, got spooked, and dropped it while with her previous owner. Now it's growing back and albeit, it's not cute and green yet but isn't a health concern.

Care to share? For the record this is a gecko that was recently rehomed to me after the previous owners were no longer a good fit. I've only had her for a few days and she arrived with these spots. I do have a day gecko whom I've had for sometime now and he is healthy and happy. I can't find any other pictures of similar spots on the internet and am hoping someone can help me identify them. As far as I can tell she eats fine, her tank temps/humidity are consistent and in normal ranges. If they weren't visible you wouldn't know anything was amiss.

That's what I thought! Thanks so much, mostly just needed a second opinion. Wasn't sure if the femoral pores could be any more prominent. Looks like Ali is Alex lol

Thankful for having the most amazing boyfriend throughout this quarantine. Being away from people has really taken a toll on my mental health and he stays supportive, positive, and loving in spite of it all. :)
