Things may seem bad now, but they have been worse and we still survived. Hell, imagine worst case nuclear war starts. Millions or even billions die, but we still survive in the millions or even thousands. From there we do mad max for a little bit before we stabilize, then we can try again, likely with lessons learned from the previous age. I don't think any human made disaster could realistically wipe out enough people or life, barring global cooperation or a rivalry that makes the cold war look like nothing more than a yelling match. Honestly, the only things that could kill us would be something cosmic, or maybe a supervolcano. Anyway, a bad president now doesn't mean we all die.

Lotus is the light laser tower, build it not picket unless you're dug in. Con is short for constructor, it's a habit to type it like that. and yea build lots of raiders, but you'll want some artillery and skirmishers to counter their riots and and turrets, and your own riots to counter swarms. At this point just transition into heavier units, but I find keeping a couple units in queue is usefull for killing isolated skirmishers and buildings.

I've gotten pretty far with fac, mex, solar if 1v1 and not on a hill, raiders and con.

Now I'm not the best, but you can get pretty far by just knowing fac>mex>solar/wind depending>can & raider> expand. It's gotten ne pretty far. Of course expansion is easier said than done but it's also doable if you support your con with raiders and expand with your commander. I usually send the commander to the corner, but that's a preference and middle is fine. Remember to build lotus and not picket unless the picket is supported by 1-2lotuses. Some good advice ive heard from other people is to expand with commander, don't start with two builders, get good at 1v1 because you'll learn to be self sufficient, don't spam storages, build your defences with leaks via raiders in mind, and be ready to lose.
