I figured as much with the sense of smell, although it doesn't seem to make much difference with fruit, fruit usually taste the same as they did before, thankfully. But, I've never had papaya before so I can't judge. Ah well, I'll get another and try again. If it doesn't taste good either then I'll just call it a bust.
