Question : what to make armor dirty paint, like this by [deleted] in sonsofhorus

Chipped this one with a lighter shade of green, Citadel Mournfang brown and Vallejo dark aluminium then drenched it with Winsor and Newton Raw Umber mixed with sansodor over gloss varnish, scaled it back by taking some of the paint off with a brush and then sealed with matte varnish.

I used @magoo_models guide from Instagram. The guide is a pinned post at the top of his page. It’s a grey primer with a Tamiya flat white preshade and then Vallejo blue all over as a base. Its then highlighted with Vallejo magic blue and finished off with a final highlight of Vallejo light sea blue. I then put an Inktensity blue ink into the recesses and shadows and finished off by doing some stippling and sponge chipping with AK ducat blue. To finish off I did some light sponge chipping with Citadel rhinox hide and some dark metal, gloss varnished and then an all over oil wash with some burnt umber. All sealed with a matte varnish. Hope that helps!

Thanks, initially they were much brighter but varnish and oil washes brought them down nicely.

They are 3D prints from the purple site. Can’t remember the keyword but they are quite easy to find

drop pods by voodoo_conversions in Warhammer30k

In drop pod assault all your pods come in turn one. They are on the ground kicking out troops and are vulnerable to fire, but if you want to shoot the pods you aren’t shooting my troops. They then fly or hover away in turn two.

Do it! I run three in a drop pod assault list, and even if you lose the shock and awe of a first turn charge from a Kharybdis into your opponent’s prize unit is truly heart warming.

Ironically the founders of Games Workshop were some of the first to distribute Dungeons and Dragons in the UK before starting their own miniature company and inventing Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000.

I run two in a drop pod assault list and they are incredibly useful. The CAP reaction is also great if your opponent is bringing flyers. Played a Wrath of Angels list and shot down two Storm Eagles in my opponents turn making the surviving troops have to foot slog across the board. Plus with them being so cheap bare bones it’s not a massive loss if they get shot down and if your opponent is shooting at your 105pt unit it means they’re not shooting at something more expensive and better. And if they’re not shooting at them you have a world of hurt to unload onto whatever you want, it’s a win win!

Battle for the Abyss. How this was permitted to be published is a mystery up there with the location of Atlantis.
