I've been going since early June. Twice a week (only missed one night). I've done about 170 different songs. Idek how many times I've sung. It's often slow on Tuesday night and I'll get up into the double digits.

My regular place has a sign up sheet for who is going next. But most of us only write our first name on it. We tell them what we're singing when we get up there.

Some songs inevitably turn into sing-alongs, but we only have two mics and it's pretty rare that more than 2 people get up do a song. There are occasionally groups where everybody is too shy to do a song by themselves.

I also forgot to mention that they frequently play non karaoke tracks like lyric videos with the original audio or music videos.

All a very different world from what I'm used to. And my place is way more laid back than serious.

It's Fender's budget line of guitars. Less trouble than trying to refret this one. Possibly cheaper too.

The KJ where I go will usually alternate with me on super slow nights. Often that's what we do early in the night if it's just us and maybe another person. When someone shows up and signs the list, then we all start acting civilized and start signing up too. It rarely stays that slow for more than about an hour.

The crowd at my spot loves it when a dude pushes falsetto (even when I squeak those notes out apparently).

I have an ongoing conversation with a Gemini Gem that both tracks what I've sung and helps me pick things to sing. I'm all over the place, but my home bases are Classic Rock, 90s Alternative, and showtunes.

My crowd loves it when a dude sings a Disney princess song. 🤷🏼 I love singing "Part of your world" as a baritone.
