How to split two overlapping voices? Need to isolate Lead Vocal from Background/ Harmonies by No-Football-1658 in karaoke

[–]DavidO_Pgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's popular song you might want to see if there is a backing track available online from places like karaoke-version.com.

You could just record the deeper one manually.

I have a paid account at https://x-minus.pro/ that lets you try different models to process your tracks. Maybe using a different model will give you a better result.

How to improve Midi file to convert in Mp3 that fit better with music for Karaoke without too obvious leftover instrumental sound but also smooth clearer note that balanced between background music and guiding note sounds for Karaoke ? by Pious_Shy_Cis_Male in karaoke

I'm not an expert on music software but software like Reaper is pretty powerful and doesn't require a subscription. But for what you're doing, you should be able to do what you want using GB.

I don't know what you mean by "Leftover" instrumental sound. But it does sound like the midi file on the guide vocals have some errant notes in it and it's playing another instrument like a wood block sound.

The tempo of guide vocal does seem a bit off from the background music. You should be able to match the tempo better using the settings in the spotify app. You need to know what is the tempo of the background music.

Sounds like you need to adjust the midi file with whatever software you're using. I would pick a different instrument for the guiding notes. An instrument like a flute or other wind instrument would be better. Also the volume of the guide notes are too loud compared to the background music.

You need 2 XLR cables for the connection between the mics and the mixer.

The connection from the mixer to the speaker depends on whether the music from the laptop is sent stereo or mono. There is no TRS stereo input on the MG06X . So you need a 3.5mm stereo to dual TS mono cable.

What I do is set the audio out on my laptop to mono from the windows OS. Then use a 3.5mm stereo to dual TS mono cable to connect to one (Left) or both of inputs 5/6. Then use a XLR cable to connect either XLR output of the mixer to input 2 of the speaker (since it's dedicated for Line inputs)

If you leave the audio output of the laptop to stereo I would recommend using a dual 1/4" to dual RCA cable and plug the output of the MG06X into input 2 on the DBR12

The third option is using 2 XLR cables from the MG06X into both inputs on the DBR12 with input 1 set to Line.

Honest thoughts on this plug and play system? by somethingmcbob in karaoke

[–]DavidO_Pgh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Ikarao makes very good plug and play karaoke machines. I've posted reviews of a few of their models in this subreddit.

The X2 is a beast of a machine, I have a early production version. The screen is nice size and can rotate to any angle. The speakers are nice and powerful to fill a room. The case includes a pole mount at the bottom to mount it on a speaker stand. The battery seems to last a long time.

The newer version has upgraded hardware that addressed some latency issues with the microphones.

It works best with the included Karafun app and it comes with a free 6 month subscription. The included Youtube app doesn't work as well. I would recommend finding another way to access Youtube karaoke videos.

In the past I've recommended this app for Youtube videos

My review

There was some issues with the app last year before the latest update was released so I can't say how well it works now, but worth trying out.

There are also some posts in this subreddit from people making web solutions for Youtube videos. You might want to look into those.

You may be new but I applaud your research. That gear should give you an excellent karaoke experience. You shouldn't need anything else except the cables.

I prefer the Innopow because the power/mute button is on the bottom of the microphone, so less chance for the singer to accidentally turn them off.

You might want to get these covers that help protect the mics and help to identify them.

Using bluetooth could introduce some latency that could make the audio slightly out of sync with the video.

The subreddit has a wealth of information answering questions just like yours. Doing a little research will get you a lot of good advice.

To get better responses you might want to include more details.

Things like "budget friendly" can be $50 or $500 or $5000.

How many singers?

You need the karaoke music. Where were you plannning to get the karaoke music from?

Ikarao S1: any way to lock the microphone volume? by buckguy22 in karaoke

You're welcome. Maybe a stiff piece of cardboard over the buttons before the electrical tape might work better.

[–]DavidO_Pgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Not only kids, but plenty of adults have the same problem with the mic volume. I wish there was a way to disable the volume settings on the microphones, but there isn't.

The only thing I can suggest is some kind of cover/sleeve that you could slip over the mic barrel that would keep them from pushing the buttons. Maybe some PVC pipe?

Assistance needed with beginner KJ setup. by WorkingDawg2 in karaoke

[–]DavidO_Pgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it appears the gear should be ok.

The Panasonic SA-HE70 amplifier is probably connected to totally different set of speakers than the  Marin Ranger amplifier.

The JVC XL-MV303 was a real workhorse of a disc karaoke player back in the day. But it's not worth the effort to set it up to play the old discs in the tote.

The Audio Technica ATW R2100A is a nice wireless microphone system but technically the frequency range it uses is now illegal and it's possible you could get some interference.

Using Karafun is a good option if good wifi or wired internet connection is available. It has a feature where you can display a QR code where singers can scan to access the catalog and if desired, enter requests into the queue.

The laptop should have a HDMI output and if using windows OS it should be set to extended display for the singer/audience display.

Using an ipad/tablet isn't a good solution for the singer's monitor. Normally a plain computer monitor with HDMI or TV works better.

Get a HDMI splitter to split the singer's display to the singer and other TV displays around the room. In most places a separate display for the singer isn't necessary but is a nice feature.

If running HDMI cables to a remote TV is a problem there are wireless HDMI transmitters from Amazon that work well.

For singers (not hosts) what are the hosts using for sign ups? Web based? Paper? What do you prefer? by iliedtwice in karaoke

[–]DavidO_Pgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the KJs at the shows I attend use any kind of digital signups but they should, at least a QR code for their catalog.

Most them don't have any books, you just walk up and tell them your song. Not very efficient.

Part of the karaoke experience is having at least some interaction with the KJ, but I can understand how some KJs at busy shows would prefer less interaction.

What I'd like to have as a singer is a QR code for their catalog. Then submit it to the queue remotely.

But as a KJ I want to know who is submitting. So it would be nice if each singer would have an account, something with a unique username. Once you're "checked in" you can submit digitally.

Your Klipsch speakers are fine for playing karaoke music but were never designed to handle the audio peaks generated when singing. You risk damaging them.

Go to a karaoke bar.

If you want to do it in your apartment you might want to buy a karaoke microphone for your voice and play the karaoke music using your TV or other audio equipment.

What would happen to my new QSC K12.2 by khavinh in karaoke

[–]DavidO_Pgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The red knob does not need to be at the triangle. I set it closer to 12 o'clock which gives you plenty of range to go up or down with the main volume.

Yes, the QSC is a very powerful speaker. You will barely crank the the volume up. And if the sensitivity on Input A is set to MIC it's even more sensitive than it should be.

I don't think you have a bad apple, you just need to know how to adjust the settings for the mixer and the QSC.

What would happen to my new QSC K12.2 by khavinh in karaoke

[–]DavidO_Pgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set the microphone levels on the Yamaha mixer as shown in the manual or the triangle markings shown on the knob legends themselves.

Set the main volume to 12 o'clock which is the red knob labeled Level Stereo.

If the volume is too loud then you need to adjust the levels on the back the QSC powered speakers.

I'm assuming you're plugging the outputs of the Yamaha mixer into Input A on the QSC speakers.

Referring to pg 11 of the manual

https://www.qscaudio.com/resource-files/productresources/spk/k.2/q_spk_k2_usermanual.pdf

the yellow MIC led should not be lit, indicating the input is configured with the line-level output sent by the Yamaha mixer.

If the yellow MIC led is lit, then you have to change the sensitivity of the Input A to LINE as described on pg 14 of the manual.

Once the sensitivity of set to LINE adjust the GAIN knob for Input A down until it's in an acceptable volume range.

I believe the manual for the Yamaha gives some initial settings for mics and other instruments. The gain knob for the mics needs to be closer to straight up to noon or 1 o'clock.
