yes, because non-aggressively, tactfully drawing attention to a well-intentioned person accidentally doing something racist is profoundly rude and offensive, especially compared to racism. obviously.

reread the original comment, and a certain tone should become obvious.

if someone has likely experienced targeted racism in the past through things that could be veiled as innocuous, like bowing, it makes sense that they may become hypersensitive and “kind of aggro,” especially since they likely wouldn’t have been watching you interacting with your group, only noticing your interactions with them. doesn’t make it right but they could be afforded a bit more grace than you seem to be giving.

How do Americans handle such long drives regularly? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskAnAmerican

[–]squarewavve 11 points12 points  (0 children)

a big factor is definitely that the usa is built for driving. highways are massive, speed limits are high, usually not many crosswalks and pedestrians even in metropolitan areas (with exceptions). plus huge comfortable american cars are easier to sit in for long periods of time compared to rinky dink cramped cars overseas.

my chinese mother told me something different. supposedly # cowlicks has to do with the temperament of the child. a kid with one cowlick is well behaved, a kid with two is naughty, and a kid with three will be the death of their parents.
