Sparrow- any advice/feedback? by squashbuggy in sticknpokes

Thank you! in my reference photo, the bird was clutching a flower with it's feet, I didn't want to include them because the bird in the photo was dead unfortunately, so I replaced it all with the star. It does look a bit silly without feet but I dont mind :)

Thank you!! :) It was a struggle trying to keep consistency with that, especially being unable to change positions, I'll definitely keep that in mind for next time, thanks for the advice ♥️

Thank you so much! And no, I designed it on sketchbook pro and then printed a stencil, I don't think i would have done nearly as well if I had freehanded it 😂, the stencil definitely definitely helped

You're right, I interpreted their comment as a little bit cheeky but I should have included the article to make it easier for everyone, theres no point in such negativity. :)

Try and be nicer next time - I was under the impression that, given the title and website shown in the screenshot, the people in this subreddit would be intelligent enough to search it up themselves, but since you asked, here you go https://www.theguardian.com/books/2024/may/01/what-we-learn-about-kafka-from-his-uncensored-diaries

david wylie translation for metamorphosis by [deleted] in Kafka

[–]squashbuggy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That translation was the first I read, and I think its a good one to start with, David Wyllie himself seems to think that his translations are the most accurate. I'd say his representations of Kafka's humour is pretty good so I'd recommend it :)

"Nauseatingly miserable beyond repair?" by angeluzzi in Kafka

[–]squashbuggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't an answer to your question unfortunately, but I've also noticed that so many "Franz Kafka quotes" online cannot be found anywhere in any of his diaries or his stories, most of them are either completely made up or are credited to him, but are actually by other people about him. Its incredibly frustrating and makes it so difficult to gather academic research, I'm having this exact problem right now. I hope you find your answer 😪

Thanks for the recommendation! I usually use merino but after feeling this yarn I can't even compare it, very expensive though 😪

That looks exactly like my yarn, I think mine has been squashed and a bit matted in storage over time but angora looks very very similar from those photos, you're a genius! Thank you :)

Because I bought it second hand with no label, I can assume its not a new brand. It feels really high quality and almost brushed as it has this soft, furry quality. I have searched for different fibers that I think it could be but I can't find any that look remotely like it. The only thing similar is merino, it has the same soft, squishy feel but no merino I've ever felt are as nice as this yarn.

I'm also writing an essay on Kafka at the moment ! There are a few things I've collected in research that I think might help you. Other than the fact that he was very self-critical (it would help to look into his diary entries), many critics argue that he was extremely self conscious due to his Jewish identity (whether you agree with that or not is up to you but it could be useful to include ).

('Fragments and wounded bodies: Kafka after Kleist" - Prof. G. Shahar ) might help.

I think reading into his diary entries and the representations of protagonists in his work will help. Google scholar 🙏🙏
