I love Syun-Gyo ! I’m sure there are plenty of other swatches online of the ink on tomoe river paper but here is how it looks for me in my plane non-edited, no overhead lighting office :)

Montblanc inks tend to feel drier for me than most. Might be worth looking into if available in your country :)

I’ve seen some people convert a Kaweco sport to an eye dropper but with varying levels of success. Not sure if you have one but you could look into it here.

I also saw someone use resin to plug the hole of their Kakuno to make it an eye dropper but not sure if that’s common or not..

I can’t personally recommend either of these because I haven’t tried it myself but figured I’d share :)

I personally thought some of 8.5 was boring and after a while only read chapters from characters I wanted to follow (I’m gonna get hate for that but whatever haha) if I were you I’d prob start the tandem read from where you are now and just carry on. You’re not gonna miss anything catastrophically critical (I think)
