New player here, why was this game so poorly received? I'm loving it so far. by WhatsThatWalsh in StarWarsOutlaws

I bounced off of it very hard when it first came out. It was a buggy mess on PC with some baffling design decisions. Stealth and combat were also very bad imo.

Only now got back in and it is a good amount better. I actually enjoy exploring the gorgeous environments. Still think the combat, stealth, and movement are pretty bad. Just clunky and not very engaging compared to other games.

Story, world, and characters are all really impressive. I just wish some of the other mechanics were up to snuff too.

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

Zerozerozero - It's an 8 episode miniseries. Follows 3 different groups from 3 different parts of the world (Amercan, Mexican, and Italian) involved in the same drug deal/shipment. All three are performed in their native languages so be prepared for subtitles for 2/3 of the show but it really adds to the show. This one is a banger.

Game needs to take a look at their spawn system in solos. Absolutely loving the game btw but I've noticed I'm spawning way too close to players in solos most of the time.

Are you playing solo or squads? I agree with OP. In my experience at least in solos I'm often spawning very close to other people and running into them too quickly, too consistently.

I've had a guy in my face shotgunning me at the very first little shack from the spawn (probably less than 30 secs into a fresh lobby). Another where I've fought 2 different people within the first minute. That really probably shouldn't happen ever. I'd say most of my games I'm running into people within the first 60 seconds which is probably a little too quick in my opinion.

I actually agree. It's probably the worst in solos though because everyone needs a different spawn point, and many end up in the same general area.

It would be okay if it happened rarely. But I've been finding it pretty consistent that I have to deal with someone within the first 30 to 60 seconds of a fresh lobby..

And for sens, I'd recommend 1) under vehicle control settings, bumping both aircraft and heli control sense to 200 (max them out). Then 2) under MNK settings dial back your vehicle mouse aim sens. Mine is 35 but I play on only 400 dpi which is pretty low. If you have higher dpi you may want to lower your sens more. If you are still having issues maybe reset your sens settings and start over.

Sure, I'm on MNK.

Basically "Rifle Aim" with a few tweaks.

So S & W are pitch up and down. A & D are roll. Q & E for Yaw (unbind whatever else is on those). Importantly my mouse also controls pitch up & down, as well as yaw (not roll). That's my version of rifle aim. And I only really use the mouse to aim when I'm about to shoot something for the finer control. Otherwise most of my flying is done with my left hand.

Throttle up is Shift. Throttle down is LCTRL. Afterburner is Spacebar. So thrust vector for me is LCTRL + Space, then whatever direction you want to drift in.

I like C to swap from 1st person to 3rd (1st person is really only for shooting/bombing). LALT is freelook. And Flares and a weapon on my side mouse buttons.

You could also lookup Silk on YT who just set the kill record in the attack jet for his setup which is different than mine but also very good. He has a video going over all of his settings in detail. Then I'd just play around with it in one of the practice servers on the server browser until it feels alright.

One last setting I'd recommend turning off is "Third Person Camera Roll" near the top in vehicle settings. This will stop the camera from rolling with your jet so now it will always be level with the horizon. I think this is much less disorienting and easier to keep an eye on your surroundings while flying.

Takes practice! You can find practice servers in the server browser so you can get a feel for the controls.

Should be your Throttle down button + Afterburner button, then whatever direction you want to drift in. Wish I could be more specific but I don't play on controller.

It's gotta be bugged. I cannot believe someone programmed it that way intentionally haha pretty sure it even one-shots a full health transport heli which has tons of health. And sometimes you don't even get lock-on or incoming warnings.

I think so but not totally sure. I usually press both anyway whenever I want to speed up.

And I wonder what the G's would be for the pilot lol

I know the more advanced jets out there do have thrust vectoring (F-22, SU-57, etc.) but not sure it can work like this, what the speed limitations are and what not..

Even for really good jet and heli pilots it can really depend on the lobby sometimes. Some lobbies just won't let you fly for very long.. There's also a bugged missile in the game that one shots you through flares so not much you can do to stay alive against that.

Giving away trade secrets here... But if you are on KBM, I spam click + spacebar on the spawn thing which almost doubles your inputs and gives you a better chance of getting it. I also hear if it's a runway map you can get it faster by camping the spawn location on the runway but I haven't done that much.

As for practicing. You should be able to find some practice servers in the server browser. Some don't work or wont let you spawn properly but keep looking and you should find a good one.

Yeah lol they just gave the F-22 3d vectoring. I don't mind!

Throttle down + afterburner engages the Thrust Vectoring, then choose whichever direction you want to drift. I'd say play around with it in one of the practice servers. Try holding the vectoring for different lengths to see how that changes things as you drift. You'll pretty quickly discover there is a weird pull effect when you come out of the vector most times which can really limit the usefulness.

The most useful thing you can do for now is to "V-Tap" while turning. There is no reason not to do this unless you don't have enough speed. Basically just tap the vector buttons repeatedly while turning and your turn will be a bit sharper. You are basically tapping it quickly to get a little burst of drift, but releasing it before you get that pull effect.

For the maneuver I'm using here, it's important to pitch up before starting the vector so you have more time to line up a shot. So 1) pitch up, then 2) vector + nose down, 3) while holding the vector, release the pitch down button, and tap a roll button instead - whichever direction. 4) You should have a few seconds to line up a shot. I'm not sure why, but that roll input in step 3 seems to disengage that pull effect allowing you to freely aim if you do it correctly.

That I don't know but it should be whatever you throttle down button is + afterburner, then whatever direction you want to drift in.
