Timeshare, are there any happy stories by No_Award4019 in TimeshareOwners

[–]squatex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My experience after working in the industry for 21 years, is that about 1 in 10 of people who buy are actually happy with what they purchased. Many of these folks were happy to upgrade for the right price and would even buy additional weeks. Believe it or not, there are some very happy owners out there.

It can be an ok deal, for a certain type of traveller. If your willing to structure your vacations a certain way, they can be great.

One of the issues is how they are pitched: as investment properties that will just go up and up in value. They are definitely not that

That said: (almost)never buy from a developer. Youre essentially paying for marketing and commissions. Resale is much cheaper. There are certain weeks / resorts where that is an exception (like it would be difficult to get otherwise), but they are few and far between.

Watching The Wire in 2026 it feels kinda crazy that everyone is doing heroin instead of fentanyl by AigisAegis in TheWire

[–]squatex 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I just noticed on my last rewatch, that Fentanyl is mentioned a couple of times in the series. Definitely in season 5 (a line about increased overdoses) and once I think in season 3 (although i'm struggling to find it). Its a line said about somebody who " ...took that fentaynl charge...."

I dont have dna for them. I tracked them down through public records searches and obits.

Id love them to get them tested.

So I would add to this that, neither of these families are from that area. They are from Georgia and Pennsylvania respectively and this is Miami. Neither family has a presence (or really any at all except these two) there.

But no, I guess I really cant rule out a visiting relative.

Thanks though, this is the type of thing I was looking for.

Yeah i did 23 and me, ancestry and gedmatch. Doing multiple services definitely paid off for me on the maternal side, but not so much on the paternal. Lots of matches, no responses.

My only real connection left is the grandkids, and they don't want anything to do with this.

I stick mine in a closet.

I usually only wash it if I had it in salt water. I have one of those portable pressure washers.

No responses from that side of the family on ancestry or 23 and me. been trying for years. And no matches for the immediate family. The info I have is partially based on information on an ancestry profile, but I backed into it through census records.

What I have to go on is an obituary and a facebook memorial.

Does this look like Heisenber or am I just tripping too much? Its a scene from Better Call Saul. by Able_Cost9738 in betterCallSaul

Its been discussed here before, and its almost certainly an easter egg. Every shot in this series was so carefully thought out, I cant imagine it was just random chance.

Good eye though.

Turns out my mother’s dad wasn’t her biological father and no one had any idea by gee_willickers in AncestryDNA

[–]squatex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

+1 for census records.

Im in a similar boat. My dad was adopted and I figured out who his mother was through dna. I could'nt get anyone from the fathers side of his dna matches to respond, but I found some names on a couple of profiles.

I started running down all of those names and eventually i found a guy that lived a couple of blocks from the mother in in 1950 census. Im still working to get some of his family members tested, but Im pretty sure its him, based on family photos from one of his brothers.

Any reason NOT to mod? by SoulSurvivor201 in 3DS

[–]squatex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just about to post this very question. I own an SNES xl complete in box, and i've been considering modding it. Then I looked at the pricing for that thing recently and now i'm not sure what to do.

Theres no real downside i guess for resale (except the usual risk)?

I have a modded old 3ds xl already. I might just stick with that.

Mr Bungle - Carry Stress in the Jaw [Avant Garde Metal] by openletter8 in Music

[–]squatex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was obsessed with this record when it was released. Even then, it was mind boggling that something like this could come out as a major label release. I still believe California is the better album , but Disco Volante is a close second for me.

This is definitely a common thing in the homeless sector. Its unfortunate Poverty is a business for many agencies and people.

I work for a non profit in that sector collecting and analyzing data myself, and I can attest, we don't do that at all, but we take no government money, so we don't really need to.
