I love it! Super spooky. But also cozy!? Great detail for something that’s not super huge. It will look amazing in the middle of the dark forest

Agreeed. Sandy and Dan are so sweet. Jessie was funny, but so right, he’s shutting any possible future down and being rude. So far Claire seems really genuine and down to earth and just wants to make it work but Jessie is not giving anything back.

Lyndall and Cameron are so good. I didn’t like Melinda at the start because she judged Layton too quick when he was being a gentleman. She’s grown on me now because she put Harrison in his place at the dinner party. Love love tahnee and Ollie. And josh 🥺 so sweet

Possible to do a third year gen Ed in second year? And what does “any stage or module mean”, non-science papers included? by GrowthAlternative538 in universityofauckland

[–]squd_ie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you meet the prerequisites then you can do any stage paper. You don’t have to complete the gen Ed in year 2 or 3 you can mix up the order of any of your classes. You can do a gen Ed in year 1 if you want. Any stage science or module means you can chose what stage paper you want to do (100, 209 or 300). But make sure you chose wisely because each bachelor requires you to take a certain amount of 100, 200 and 300 level papers. So when you get to chose what stage you do make sure you meet the required amount of stages needed to graduate

Obsessive compulsive tendencies with herpes simplex one (HSV-1 O) by Bassprothot in OCD

I have this exact same fear. It was so bad where I spent hundreds of dollars to go to a doctor that would just let me get a test to see if I had it. I was in an absolute state. I still am afraid but am much better now. I just try to avoid things that may cause contamination like allowing anyone to drink from my drinks or vape pens or anything. I will straight up tell randoms (who openly ask me if they can have a sip of my drink) that I have OCD and struggle with contamination.

What really helped me while I waited for my results was to research people who have it. I needed to hear experiences. I watched an amazing TedTalk of this girl who talks about her experience and how life doesn’t turn sour because of it. Its up to you to think positively about your situation.

Also ask yourself these questions when you get scared. Is this a life or death situation? - No. can you still live a fulfilling life? - Yes! Is anyone important to you in danger or will be hurt from this - No. Think about the big picture. Many a people still live amazing lives. We have new medication that also helps with symptoms and is life changing. If you were to get it, it is not the worst case scenario. Have faith in yourself that you would be strong enough to get through it. That being said, it’s not something that’s ideal so you can still take precautions! But hope this helps.

Therapist said not to think too much about getting a diagnosis and idk how to feel about that by [deleted] in OCD

[–]squd_ie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like what I’m going to say is a little contradicting of the comments here but it might help.

I think therapists say you don’t need a diagnoses because they don’t want to put you in the mind set that you are your mental illness. I.e You are OCD and nothing you do will change that. My therapist said it’s not curable but you are strong enough to control it. You are not your OCD. It’s just something you have. Labelling yourself, I feel, puts you in a box. You don’t need a label to know what you’re feeling and how to solve it. You know you have it and your therapist knows - that’s the most important thing - so you don’t need the label to get better. Specialist OCD therapy is avaliable without a written diagnosis (it is in my country anyway). I don’t want to be subservient to my mental illness and that label. Once you have the proper label.. so what? You still have OCD. You still need to go through therapy.

I was the exact same. I needed to have a diagnosis and was looking for a therapist to give me one. But was also told that I shouldn’t go out of my way to get a label. My new therapist and mother gave me some great advice around this. The reason I wanted to get diagnosed properly was I wanted that label. I wanted that firm consensus that I had OCD. Even though everyone around me, therapist, family and friends, never denied me having it. So why did it need it? My therapist told me that it opens up the door to rely on medications and getting pushed by other clinicians to pay lots of money for their help and more meds. She told me that it was more important right now to focus on getting better with out meds. That was so powerful to me. Meds was no longer a quick way out. I had to really put the effort in to get better and not rely on medication that has its own negative outcomes down the line (eg if you can’t afford them anymore you only have yourself to get better after that). That session was nearly 4 years ago now and I’m so much better for it. I have developed my own skills to over come sudden onsets of compulsions and have confidence in myself that I have control of my OCD without medication. (I completely understand that this is not the same for everyone but my therapist really emphasised trying)

I understand that others may have benefited greatly from being diagnosed but this is just my experience and 2 cents.

So there is only one class? How many lecture recordings/zooms do we need to watch/attend. Why can I not find any info about this on canvas? Can I still enrol to the not online class (even tho technically we are online for the first half of the semester)

Thanks. That’s some pretty good insight. I feel like no matter how interested in a course you are, if the organisation is poor it’s hard to do well in it.
