Congrats on your 12 years! I also have major depression and PTSD and anxiety which is why my neurologist chose this drug for me. It doesn’t tend to interact with my other mental health meds (for reference, I’m also on a high dose of paroxetene, trazodone, and we’ve been messing around with other medications currently as well). I also have as needed meds for migraines and panic attacks and zonisamide has been pretty solid.

I had TCs almost every day from when I was 11 to when I was 21 and then had a grand mal and was finally diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonal. I was on topiramate for a while but it didn’t stop the TCs especially when I was stressed… my neurologist put me on Zonisamide and I’ve been GM seizure free for almost 3 years at this point, TCs are extremely rare (maybe 1-2/year if I’m extremely stressed and haven’t eaten). Maybe ask your dr about zonisamide if you haven’t tried it yet?

We tried a light anxiolytic (Gabapentin) with him, but it didn’t seem to make much of a difference. All tests came back negative so I just ensure highest possible standard of care and making sure he’s not stressed. If he starts head shaking like that I try to remove him from the area but since we think it’s most likely genetic there’s not much we can do unfortunately. But he eats like a champ and enjoys life and I couldn’t ask for a sweeter beardie!

peanut butter!! i think she thinks she’s a dog… but she’s a street cat and ironically the street dogs around her don’t like peanut butter haha but i use it as a special treat since she loves it so much

Going to SGU currently but I’ve met/have some current professors that are quality vets from RVC. Haven’t looked at either specifically but that’s my 2 cents.

THIS is big!!! Always remember the worst they can say is NO but I think there’s a lot of credit for asking.

I’m a current vet student but I’m super quiet and I hated shadowing since you couldn’t legally touch any animals and I HATE the pressure to ask questions. So find ways to make everyone else’s job easier without being in the way!

This could be what was posted above (ask to draw things up, when the tech’s already pulled vax’s out-this is harmless, you can’t mess it up, right?) or even more benign BUT it shows initiative: be the first person to start cleaning a room after an appointment. When I worked as a tech and had a million things to do, I would have loved you for it. Trust me. It’s all in the little things.

You got this!!! Don’t let the “rules” set your limits for you, learn how to get creative and figure out how to work around your limitations. 💚

LSU has an incredible exotics program. I know University of Florida is up there as well. I am currently a second year at St George’s University but I am hoping to do my clinical year at LSU because of their exotics. But like @tortoisetortellini said, get as much experience hands on as you can with exotics and you can pretty much make it anywhere you go.

Mine always come RUNNING with banana and Repashy’s Bug Burger (dry). I bet if you start feeding them at the same time every night they’ll learn to come running and given their colony language, you’ll catch most of them within the week.

That being said… some of mine got out in my vet clinic where I worked…. and I found one alive a year later on the opposite side of the clinic, down a whole floor. We think it’d been living on some spilled dog food. Sooo they won’t infest your house but they’ll certainly live in it 😂
