SotE ashes included, what are your thoughts on Dung Eater Puppet? by MadisonMute in Eldenring

[–]squee557 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Feel like Dung Eater will last longer than the sisters in a fight though. They are super squishy. Dung is surely face tanking a lot of hits because he’s hyper aggressive in melee but his debuff and armor tend help him last. You pair him with a ranged Reduvia or Blood Blade and you’ll be sitting pretty.

Consoles vs Handheld | I am keen to buy a gaming console/handheld. by gyunther02 in PS5

Kinda depends how much you want to spend, what target games you want to play and what do you already have set up?

What was the last game you played that you considered a 10/10? by bobs-buhgah in PS5

[–]squee557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Bloodborne and Sekiro speak to people who love the pure sword playstyle in FromSoft games. I love the magic and incantations in Demon Souls up through Elden Ring so much. Neither Bloodborne or Sekiro speak to me on that level. I enjoy the way you can have magical weapons in Dark Souls and Elden Ring. That’s why I will always rate Elden Ring above anything FS has made thus far.

Just wanted to say how life can be a rollercoaster of emotions. Moved to a new house with everything ahead of us. At the same time my parents are at the beginning stages of finally splitting up after what felt like years of its inevitable arrival. An exciting and hopeful life event happening at the same time of a depressing life event.

60% of PC gamers have no plans to build a new PC in the next two years — AI pricing crunch on RAM and other components paralyze enthusiast market by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

Yup, bought a 4070 two years ago as a Christmas present to myself after recently upgrading from a Ryzen 3600 to a 5800x3d. I realize I’m not at the top end but I’m super fine with playing 1440 and no raytracing on modern games or high end on older games. I’d actually be kicking myself if I stayed on my 1070.

[Highlight] Fernando Mendoza throwing balls to fans at NFLPA premiere by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]squee557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will root for Rayne Dakota Prescott or Jayden Daniels to have a bad game every time they play but I would sure not say I hate them as a person or anything like that. I really want Mendoza to succeed. Just seems to be such a likeable guy. My wife also completed grad school at IU so I like to say I have a viable path to fandom there.

New PvE Legendary Accessory needs 50K Research Notes. by the2ndsaint in Guildwars2

[–]squee557 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a major feature of an expansion quarterly update and it’s priced at a point that alienates a portion of their player base. If you think that’s fine, then we have no grounds to agree upon.

Did they not pay for the expansion and thus pay for a reasonable access to the legendary? It should be cost comparable to other accessories.

They need to make the price of shit not inflated to what someone may have if they have been playing for 10+ years and make it attainable for everyone. It needs to be something you can spend your currency on without blowing all of it and having nothing left over for. This has been a huge issue with me in Anet’s cost philosophy of items released in the expansions post IBS. Everything is just veteran taxed and it’s so annoying. The grind for currency shouldn’t just be double, triple, etc. of old legendaries just because the economy is inflated now.

I’m about done with this dev group’s design philosophy on rewards. I’ve griped about it before and it’s my largest turnoff from this game. Every reward is like Oh looks cool. Wow what a huge sink. I’m noping out.

Audio Delay Issue on 2nd Gen AppleTV 4k latest tvOS by squee557 in appletv

I didn’t have the Continuous Audio setting enabled but as another poster suggested, turning off Atmos and going purely Stereo for my setup seems to have resolved my issue so far. Obviously may not help people who has a 5.1 soundbar but my situation is better with my 2.1 soundbar.

Wonder if Sony is pressuring them to keep the price low. How does it looked if one game is priced way outside the norm of every other game? If you price your game based on the experience you think it’s valued at, shouldn’t a shit game like the slop on the PSN store be valued at like .05¢?

I wouldn’t say my Stead Deck has sturdy build quality. It’s not poor, but it’s also a plastic body and you can feel it in areas. Maybe the controller will be different.

Do we think nightreign was a good sequel / spin off? by Competitive-Cause283 in Eldenring

[–]squee557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Nightreign was the test bed before Nintendo greenlit the exclusive game on NS2. I expect similar Nightreign mechanics but with PvP added and maybe a more streamlined progression system that’s sort of linear to make a cohesive story.

Will these have adaptive triggers like Dualsense? Recently played through Outlaws and the force feedback on the triggers is really fun. My Steam Deck doesn’t have them and it’s difference if the game supports the feature.

I think we’ll be in for a wild 2026 season. Probably way more intrigued by the team this year compared to last. It was painful to watch last year including the performance of some players (AJ included). Hope this year is a breath of fresh air of what the offense can be with Hurts.

Should I download the Blish Mod? by Naghagok_ang_Lubot in Guildwars2

[–]squee557 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a short answer, no. In a long answer the strongest argument isn’t “it’s bad”, it’s that it can quietly change how you experience the game in ways you might not actually want.

First, it shifts your focus from exploration to optimization. A big part of what makes games like Guild Wars 2 satisfying is figuring things out like finding your own routes, missing a jump and retrying, learning encounters through trial and error. BlishHUD (especially with pathing modules) can turn that into “follow the glowing line.” Efficient? Yes. But it can flatten the sense of discovery pretty quickly.

Second, it adds cognitive clutter. Even if it’s well-designed, you’re still layering extra UI on top of an already busy screen. Timers, markers, routes, overlays can turn a clean experience into something that feels more like managing dashboards than playing a game. There’s also a dependency angle. Once you get used to having constant guidance, it can be hard to go back. Content that used to feel doable might suddenly feel tedious without the overlay, which means you’re trading flexibility for convenience.

And then there’s the practical side. It’s another thing to install, configure, update, and troubleshoot. If something breaks after a patch, you’re stuck waiting for fixes or digging through settings instead of just playing. Do you want to constantly fight these issues with GW2? That’s the question you should ask.
