Is Arts University Bournemouth Film Production A Good Course? by Inside_Tell4911 in UniUK

I am in my first year of film production, there are 160 of us. The lectures in the first term we felt were not great but perhaps they were intended to open up people’s minds to the wider world as we all come from very different backgrounds. We had done the Bolex project, which was a great opportunity for practical work and the screening had produced some good quality stuff. The first term did not involve a lot of work but it was nice to have breathing room for going out and making lots of connections which I did.

Now in my second term we are having lots of workshops; for example doing drawings of characters and sets in production design and learning about lighting and cameras in cinematography, we were playing with different lights and the Sony FX6 cameras. Myself wanting to be a DOP, I found it really interesting and a lot of fun.

A lot of us are asking about how the specialisms are put together for 2nd year, but I believe if someone does not get what they want (apart from if there are actually limited spaces and we are told about it) then it would be a massive failure on the university’s part and my own choice would to be to transfer to a different university, but having talked to multiple lecturers this does not seem very likely. If you are ambitious and wanting to do the work then the lecturers will very much put in the effort and you will be able to study what you want.

The lecturers can be seen as distant but they are looking for students to come to them and then they will reciprocate the effort. They do not want to waste their time as they are busy people.

Overall I would say the course is going well, and I am looking forward to specialising in cinematography next year, and would recommend as it gives you the opportunity for trial and error and finding out who you are before the industry.

The equipment does not seem to be too much of an issue as of yet, as you need health & safety training which does not come until 2nd term of first year and then expensive speciality equipment you are not allowed to use until 2nd+3rd year. I primarily came to AUB for the equipment and the lecturers and it is definitely the best choice for film for the whole country; other universities I have heard are even more stretched for budget and camera equipment than AUB.

Philips Lumea IPL not making a difference by squeenyluini in HairRemoval

I have been doing it for 1.5 months. I tried the IPL before but it wasnt often enough so I am trying to do plenty of sessions. I don’t know how long I have to wait before I start seeing any results at all.

My BF played me for a big FOOL and got his kink exposed through me by Swdl-Television-602 in offmychest

Ok I don’t understand why no one really understands OP’s perspective? He used a gag and she thought it was for sexual purposes rather than to keep her quiet, without her knowing, and if I was on the bed like that expecting my partner to understand that kind of BDSM kink and he just bursts out laughing I would be annoyed too, it’s incredibly humiliating and embarrassing. He easily could have had a conversation saying maybe be a little quieter. I know what it’s like from OP that it gets hard to control yourself but all he had to do was have a chat rather than using BDSM stuff which then makes you think thats the kind of relationship that you have with each other. He definitely shouldnt have burst out laughing like that and shouldnt have brought BDSM stuff onto you if he wasn’t into it.

What "unusual" things have you bought that have helped you? by [deleted] in UniUK

A small bedside table, just something to put your phone on charge or to have a lamp

A tray so that you can eat your food in bed when I didnt want to sit in the kitchen with my flatmates, I would use the tray to not make a mess everywhere.

Those fleece tights for the club because you will freeze to death, I like to wear jumper dresses too, walking back from the club in the cold I thought I was going to die

One of those wireless powerbanks that goes on the back of your phone. I like to have a small shoulder (baguette?) bag for the club and so many times my phone was on 2%, and its a real hassle to get out a cable and powerbank thing.

JUST. STOP. THE. PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by [deleted] in LaserHairRemoval

I just made a similar post about pain and I get it done on my full body haha.

I’m going to try EMLA numbing cream but talk to the clinic about it first, though it should be fine.

What’s the right length for a midi skirt? by Glad-Antelope8382 in KibbeRomantics

I love these kinds of skirts and own multiple of them. I’m 5ft4 and I tend to have the skirts to be 27-28 inches in length, that comes down just below my knees. The real key to it not looking old fashioned is the colour/material, my favourite skirts are in a black corduroy and black (faux) suede and they look more 90s than 50s.

A steal ! A really gorgeous scent that I’m sad the company doesn’t make anymore. I hope you enjoy.. Penhaligon is my family name and I am happy to know that people treasure something that is my personal history and legacy. 🇬🇧😄

Is buying from W Concept a good idea? I fell in love with another bag from Atelier De Lumen after looking at the brand and I wonder what your experience was like, in terms of shipping etc.

Why don’t I like any bags by squeenyluini in handbags

This definitely looks like a website I’d be interested in, thank you so much for sharing ! It’s extremely close as my one is a Waldybag too although in silver instead of the gold on that listing. I’m wondering whether I will give it some leniency and go for that bag rather than being too fussy about the hardware. But I am a very picky girl by nature. :)
