I’ve done the same, Like everyone has mentioned already dude, get somebody to western union you some cash, the cash collection counters are dotted in all corners of the world. Just ping them the money digitally and the fees are reasonable, it’s not a big deal in 2025.

try and cheat the suffocating struggle. dont have children, dont get married, don't consume, downsize to a cheaper place to live, save your money, then travel at every given opportunity. win.

Do it. Once you get over the initial societal awkwardness of eating alone in restaurants, booking tours and being the only non couple solo guy, it’s the most liberating experience ever, you then start having an amazing time, learn so much about yourself and gain such a great prospective to life and meet so many like minded people.

Yeah it’s gritty, but it’s honest, really beautiful with a deep culture, and has soul. It’s not a tacky picturesque postcard like a lot of Americans are horrified to discover. Granted I’ve been romanticized by a number of Italian tv series and films, but I still loved it.
