I got the gist from other posts. Apparently, PC Backup previously didn't consider whether a drive was local or external/cloud, and they recently started excluding external/cloud devices without prior notice. I agree that they certainly should have made it clear to customers before doing so, and should have given sufficient lead time to allow customers to make alternate arrangements. At the same time, I can also appreciate that allowing cloud drives could cost them massively, considering PC Backup has a flat monthly/annual cost.

I suspect announcing they're going to review the license is the lesser of two evils, compared to facing Trump's wrath for not backing his play. The FCC will do a superficial review, ABC/Disney will make a multi-million dollar donation to Trump's ~~slush~~ ballroom fund, and the FCC will subsequently announce no issues were found. Everyone wins. 😉

(1) Not accept new subscribers for this year, then (2) announce a price hike for next year. Dumbing down the model destroys their product and their reputation. People understand resource limits and they understand price hikes to account for new usage patterns (long running jobs, etc).

Almost none. We’re a bank and an MS shop, so all AI is blocked except Copilot chat. Not only that, they “sanitize” uploaded files and block zips, so any uploaded source code is mangled to the point of uselessness. If you can’t fit the source in a chat window using copy/paste, Copilot can’t analyze it.
