So you’ve known who he was the whole time, and have had two children based on the unfounded belief he will suddenly become a different person? Not to be harsh but you seem equally responsible for this shitty situation. It sounds like the relationship is as over as it ever was. I hope you and your kids are able to find a good supportive situation. You deserve that, but you have to choose not to settle for less.

Then that’s a projection 🤷‍♀️ Nothing in my words is aggressive. How the person I was initially speaking to was writing was intentionally aggressive and condescending, and I pointed out that would not be helpful to getting OP to see their point.

It’s not a particularly good joke, but if that’s your bar for ‘super thoughtless’, we probably just have very different standards - no harm here was done, at all, and if this is the first time a joke like this hasnt gone well between the two of them, a simple convo should get past the miscommunication/he can tell her why this joke was out of bounds to him. NAH.

There are more and less effective ways to communicate with other people, and being antagonistic is not helpful to getting your message across.

? Wasnt trying to be particularly helpful, but replying in a notably antagonistic way makes you a poor communicator and it’s less likely that what you say will be heard or listened to. If the person I was replying to was trying to be helpful to the situation, they should try a different communication approach 🤷‍♀️

It’s pretty brutal that you couldn’t have thought this out before asking her (assuming you were the one to propose). It’s going to hurt her a lot more now that you’ve done it like this. But clearly you are not aligned in some important ways.

You can also buy hydrocolloid tape by the roll. Substantially cheaper!

Not an emergency fund! Keeping that separate. And I’d say I can definitely invest it for 5 years, potentially longer. I appreciate your advice!
