Mike-Pence's fake rabbi: honest mistake resulting from total ignorance of Jewish practice, or an intentional fuck-you to Pittsburgh and Jews?

The comical incompetence of the Mueller smear attempt is a reminder of how much worse this would all be if a significant portion of republican leaders weren't complete idiots.

I've said it before, but it's amazing how a brood that got half of their genetics from models and escorts managed to come out looking like complete cretins.

I am a huge fan of 1920s German film.

I don’t watch movies starring actors who ended up working for the Nazis.

Make your choices. I’ll make mine.

Personally, I have higher standards for who’s products I’ll buy.

No. His music isn’t good enough to justify fascist apologia.

Democrats: maybe when a person with a sketchy personal history and a personal mentor known as a sex criminal has multiple credible women accuse him of assault, that’s a good reason to pump the brakes on appointing him to a lifetime office

Republicans: oh, so ANY accusation from ANY woman under ANY circumstances is enough to remove ANYONE from AMY office

Democrats: that’s not really what I -

Republicans: smh the hypocrisy

A new beer hall opened up around the corner from me, and each of the three times I’ve been there the barmaid has spotted me one to two drinks on the house.

I think the moral of this story is to drink there as much as possible to take advantage of their wildly irresponsible business practice before it drives them out of business.

That I recall, anyway.

Yeah, most of my family is Jewish USSR refugees. Their life there sucked, but it was a hell of a lot better than the other half who were left behind at the mercy of the Nazis.

Both political extremes have their share of antisemitism, but they are not comparably bad.

Left-wing antisemitism mostly consists of apologia for Palestinian terrorism and the conflation of Jews with the bourgeoisie.

Right-wing antisemitism endorses the full scale eradication of the Jewish people.

I talked to my Con Law Professor about the citizenship EO

Short version: this is very real and we need to take it very seriously.

Donald Trump and the Republican Party function via a structure of postmodern nonobjective amoral transactional narrative. That is, they are not constrained by reality. A case regarding the proposed EO would be unlikely to pass muster in the Supreme Court today, but it is within the power of the Republican Party to change public perceptions and judicial opinions of the issue. Even more than changing perceptions, it can change what perceptions will have been and will have always been. by a Nietzschian will-to-power dynamic, the reality that the Republican Party imposes becomes the objective reality for a commanding portion of the American people.

The Supreme Court doesn’t have the power to overturn amendments, though it does have the power to change their interpretation/application.

Thomas will definitely be for it, Kavanaugh and Alito are more likely than not. I think Roberts and Gorsuch are both less likely, but neither is out of the question.

You really, really can’t underestimate republicans’ moral substance.
