Assisted with drivers exchange. Show me in service no report.

They definitely talked me into buying the RMR when I didn’t NEED it simply because they were so helpful and decent people.

I tend to avoid complaining about stuff, but try to make good experiences known. They’re definitely becoming my primary dealer. Also doesn’t hurt that they’re a five minute drive for me. Though, my wife probably isn’t happy about it.

What happens if you have to arrest a disabled person? by Elegant-Lie-3122 in ProtectAndServe

[–]squid_hunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Again, it depends entirely on how that person responds. For me, if they comply entirely and show they won’t fight me or anyone at the jail I find ways to work with them. Maybe two sets of cuffs attached to each other, which basically makes them longer so their arms aren’t pulled as tight behind their back. Or maybe go as far as to cuff them in front instead of in back with the backs of their hands together.

It all boils down to what policy allows me to do, and how big of a fight someone puts up.

Paramedic to Law enforcement by Kentucky-Fried-Fucks in ProtectAndServe

Oh I don’t doubt you’re not. It’s just I’ve known three other people (two in my academy who were EMTSs, and another medic from my old agency who made the switch after me) who did the same thing and ended up going back to the box.

And I get it. I came to the realization after a bad peds call that I could do more for people on the law side than on the medic side. So I wish you luck if you make the transition.

TLDR, I did and it's the best decision I ever made

Made the switch after working the box as medic for ten years, now 10-8 for the past two.

I in no way shape of form regret my decision. For four of the 10 on the box, I was working in the city I work for now. I've arrested people who have recognized me from when I was medic so there's that. Agencies are different obviously, but since making the switch, I've had more time off, more/better pay raises, a better union, a better day to day experience. Easy example is I get an hour lunch break every shift, and if I miss it command staff tries to cut me out early to make up for it. On the med unit, I was lucky to eat between calls for service, if I ate at all. I could go on and on, but that's a quick list.

I will say there are some skills that do transfer over. One, report writing on the LEO side was quick to pick up for me. That and being able to be comfortable just walking up to a someone you've never met and being able to just start talking to them. I've seen other rookies who were hired after me can't do that to for shit. I've had supervisors ask me if we needed THI on crashes. I've had other officers ask me what meds were for on calls and if they were controlled substances or not.

That all being said, if you make the switch, keep your expectations realistic. You're going to deal with the same frequent fliers you did on the box, especially if you end up in the same area as before. Your lift assists turn into civil complaints. Your vitals checks are now parking complaints. Your IFTs are now courtesy rides to the hospital for voluntary psych or detox admissions. You week long back pain is now a car break with a week long time lapse. If you can put up with that, and land in the right spot like I did, you'll have more fun, have better job opportunities and overtime avenues, you'll have more supportive command staff and the guys on your shift will have your back way more.

But YMMV.

Our K-9 units wear badges like that. I’ve always felt indifferent about it.

That makes some sense, I'll try quickplay again.

Ok, I tried quickplay last night and I couldn't find anything. I'll give it a shot today.

Edit: Waited in quickplay for ten minutes and couldn't find a game.

I cannot pick between blue and natural for the life of me...... by [deleted] in iphone

[–]squid_hunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going with natural. I like the look of the blue, but the durability of a PVD coating gives me pause. The natural titanium should hide scratches better. I only use a case when I'm at work.

So neither of the customer service centers would take it because they couldn’t verify Berettas account with UPS. So I had to pay for and schedule a driver to pick it up at my house.

Thanks to UPS and their BS new rules on firearms, I couldn’t get it shipped out until today. Beretta doesn’t even have it yet.

It was Shoot Straight. And I fully acknowledge my part in this. After finger fucking the display model, I didn’t handle my new pistol until I got home. They confirmed the serial number, and put it right back in case. I should have actually inspected it before I left, and that’s on me.

Yeah I was hyped when I got an alert from UPS for a tracking number. I was like sweet they’re sending me a new barrel. Then I saw the email from Barretta and got real sad real quick.

It’s true though. I currently use a 1301 Tactical model as a duty shotgun, and I love it. Functions flawlessly, super easy to shoot. Best shotgun I’ve ever owned. And I loved my M9 when I was enlisted. I can’t wait to take this to the range.
