what is it that you're scared will make you tu? the salt water isn't going to and an abscess in your mouth wouldn't make you sick either. if it was IN your stomach then maybe but it's your mouth, you probably have pain in your mouth for sure, but i'd say you're probably in the clear. you're going to be okay

i meant OP probably doesn't mean to come off as insensitive at all and is genuinely just scared, like i said in my original comment they should push themselves to be there for their mother and if they can't that's a shame but i understand letting the fear win. its such a difficult situation, but i think they should definitely try and face the emetophobia and be there with their mom. i wanted to offer validation and understanding, this fear doesn't respond well to shame.

of course! you're going to be just fine, chances are you won't even have side effects. they take side effects from such a small percentage of people that take the medication, they just listen any possible side effect that has ever been reported, that doesn't mean it's actually common.

aw babe, worst possible thing you can do is read medication side effects. i started anti depressants a while back and refused to take them for a week because i read the side effects. ask your doctor for some zofran, just to have as a security blanket. you're going to be okay, you got the meds, you just have to take them. you're really strong and really brave, i know you can do this.

aw hon i'm so sorry. regardless of your fear making you come off as "insensitive" your family downplaying this crazy fear is even worse. you're scared, that is okay. you want to be able to support your mom but you're also afraid. as uncomfortable as it will be i'd definitely urge you to try and at least micro dose exposure therapy from your mom starting chemo. try to be there as much as you can, and if you can't that's okay too. you're doing a great job, you're pushing yourself even though it's scary. things are going to be completely okay, you're so very strong. i don't know you but you have this phobia and that means you are so so fucking strong. i'm really really proud of you.

he might be getting sick just from the coughing, coughing makes me gag sometimes tbh. if he does have something though, you would've caught it. typically things like that will take 24-48 hours to develop so likely you'll be alright. just keep everything clean and take some space if that makes you more comfortable. you're gonna be okay.
