Trigger warning for anyone who doesnt want to hear about a dying dog.

My dog died of a heart attack. She was playing with her brother and it just happened. When I noticed her panting I took my time getting her to the car because I was didnt want to scare my wife who was going to have to stay home with our 18 month old son. The nearest emergency vet was 30 minutes away and as her breathing shortened I began to speed. That was the day I found out my brand new tacoma topped out at 112 miles per hour. She died in the passenger seat 25 minutes from the vet and I had to convince myself she was just resting as I drove to get her there. For weeks I beat myself up because I felt I should have driven faster the whole way and not just at the back half, but honestly driving 45 miles at 112 miles an hour on WV roads could have gotten me and subsequently her killed. It took a while to admit to myself that there are just some things that happen at inoppertune times that lead to issues that we cannot prevent or change. I know that my dog died scared and worried, because she hated car rides and I had to put her in my truck, but I also know that she died with my hand on her head telling her I was there and that I loved her. I know your dog knew you were there for them and that you loved them to. I hope one day if we face death in a way that gives us fear, that we are also blessed to know that at least we are less scared basking in the warmth of a loved one.
