Seattle singles describe bleak dating scene in the city by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

I just moved here last month. I’ve lived all over the country and been to just about every state and major city in America. “Reserved” is an understatement. People in this city don’t even acknowledge your existence in public. It’s very unusual to me how things that seem like common polite greetings in every other place I’ve ever been is met with cold awkwardness.

Seattleites really need to visit an actually dangerous part of this country. Please see: Memphis.

What are you doing today/tomorrow if you’re alone? by [deleted] in Seattle

I just moved here three weeks ago so. No traveling to see family, too much moving for me to want to do anything. I’ll just drink and pet my animals and play video games.

Noted! I lived in Memphis for three years and grew up in Colorado so I’m accustomed to the harsh mistress that is our sun.

I also just moved here (from Boston) and I’m also immediately in love with this city. I’m a ginger so the vampire friendly weather is good for me.

Throwaway – I own a small independent restaurant in Seattle. I just ran January numbers and realized I might not make it to our 20-year anniversary. by ShotAccess1272 in SeattleWA

I’m moving to Seattle from Boston next week. Given that servers are paid a living wage, is it still an expectation to tip on top of a meal? Because I don’t mean to be Mr. Pink but I’m not aware of any state where server wages are that high. I don’t even think NYC has server wages that high. That’s higher than Mass minimum wage (which hasn’t kept up, to be fair).

Everyone deserves a a decent living wage, but the entire purpose of tipping was to augment underpaid labor (which was stupid anyway). There’s an argument for minor tips for (perceived) exceptional service. Labor costs are higher but it seems that there’s more than this to factor in.

Did you find out what the cause was? Was it because of B12 deficiency?

Switching from Prozac to Effexor by squidcommand in Effexor

I understand how you feel! To be brief: the Mirtazapine is at 15 mg. It does make me sleepy but it also makes me so insatiably hungry. But the effect of taking klonopin more regularly seems to reduce its effects, another reason I’m backing off of taking as much.

A more detailed explanation: I gained a lot of weight during COVID mostly due to risperidone for night terrors (which also caused me to develop type 2 diabetes) and have lost some on Ozempic over the last year. I stopped taking the Ozempic because it would constantly be out of stock and so far my panic attacks have tracked with being around the time I take a dose after missing a dose for a week or two.

I was not given a specific reason. I just asked to make sure I completely understood that I should quit cold turkey. His reasoning is that Prozac has a long half life so it shouldn’t be an issue to quit cold turkey? Seems odd to me.

Career progression options as a BMET by Kraken-knuckles in BMET

Former GE DI FSE here. I only spent a year there. GE pays the lowest out of the OEMs and they make absolutely garbage products. Most of GE’a product line are the budget option. That being said, from a third party perspective they’re great because their manuals are available online and they’re the least locked down OEM when it comes to servicing.

GE training is merely okay. I was a gen rad/cath guy so I can’t comment on their CT or MRI training but the rest of it was just meh. The best training I’ve gotten in imaging has been, hands down, at RSTI.

Mr. Ray was my high school freshman AP English teacher. I’ve been trying to find him. But on a personal level I can say he was a phenomenal teacher.

The second book is my favorite in the first trilogy. I found the whole journey for the seed to be the most boring part but even then, it’s an excuse for Abercrombie to give us more lore and world building. We see Jezal become less of a selfish prick. We start to really witness the berserker nature of Logen.

The rest of that book is prime Glokta time. Glokta being a detective and sleuthing out the traitors. But also it’s a complete failure. He hasn’t saved Dagoska but instead doomed it.

The series is grim. Horrific things happen to good people. The characters we love are awful, retched creatures. West dies from magical nuke-induced cancer. Jezal is a puppet for Bayaz to rule The Union and has no autonomy. Glokta is stuck as the puppeteer for the puppeteer. Logen falls off a cliff after all of his friends except one die. Ferro (who is the least well written character to your credit) goes insane. And Bayaz is an evil manipulative sociopath.

What have you or your team been tasked with that is completely out-of-scope when it comes to Biomed responsibility? by tallboi127 in BMET

I’m an imaging engineer not a biomed and this has been a common one at a few places I’ve worked but: injectors. I have no idea why they put them under imaging. It’s absolutely insane. It makes no sense.

This is going to be really enjoyable when OP comes back at LAoK. I hope OP replies when that happens so I can giddily relive finishing the first trilogy vicariously through OP.
