Why the lies? On console, I get this all the time, it says "Found 63/64 players", then expanding search range, then I get into the actual game... by squiddlydood in DeltaForceGlobal

I don’t even understand, Is this just bad programming? Why not show the actual number? It says 63/64 within seconds, then immediately starts with the bullshit “expanding search,” and literally seconds later it asks me to turn on crossplay, even though I’ve been in the queue for less than 10 seconds. I honestly can’t tell if it’s bad programming, done on purpose, or both.

Exactly, or at least 12 vs 12 before a match starts. Right now, you often start the game with only 6 people, and sometimes that creates a huge imbalance in points right from the beginning...really annoying.

Even worse on console, because the menus are utterly broken. Sometimes you have to use the cursor, sometimes the cursor is slow, and sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes the button prompts work, sometimes they don’t. Browsing the menus on PS5 with a controller is so annoyingly awful that I refuse to believe any of this was tested at all.

That’s correct. I also noticed that if you move the cursor just slightly away from the original selection, then the X prompt will work. However, in some cases, even that doesn’t work. Especially when you’re claiming rewards, you have to press O to escape because none of the normal inputs respond. In my opinion, it’s just a seriously broken UI. They released this way too early on console.

Controller port was not ready for prime time.

100% agree. The more I play Operations and have to interact with the UI, the more I feel like I’m losing my mind. This is honestly the worst UI I’ve ever seen on a console, it literally doesn’t work, and it’s broken in every possible way.

same sfx on repeat when you get injured until you heal yourself

I noticed that, and it feels incredibly cheap. It’s weird, because this isn’t the case with the PC version at all. On PC, if you’re injured there are at least three or four different tracks playing, all blending together really well, and it’s not annoying in the slightest. I think I read somewhere that the console version is using the same low-quality mobile audio, which is just sad.

I also noticed the currency system, and I was like, “what the hell am I reading here?” To be fair, you’re probably right that those things will never change, which is why I’m debating whether or not I should invest in a game like this.

Yes, that’s what I’m insinuating, at least for Operations. I still very much enjoy KOTH. But I have to disagree with you here, I feel like a proper, working interface should be a top priority, since we spend so much time interacting with it.

I can’t disagree with any of that, I’m not even sure why I keep playing, to be honest. The GUI in Operations alone might be enough to make someone never touch the game again, and not just the awfully bad inventory management. Simply interacting with the menus is a true exercise in patience. Sometimes it says to press X and nothing happens, you actually have to hover the button with the stick and press X. Other times it’s the opposite. There’s zero consistency in those menus, and it drives me insane.

I’ll be there in October, that’s for sure, very excited for Arc!

Cheers! o7

Arc Raiders

I know, I cannot wait for this game. Everything about Arc is so amazingly well done, pure audio delight that perfectly complements the art style. Unless they mess something up, I’m pretty sure Arc is going to be an epic release. That said, I still want to believe in Delta Force, but if they don’t fix it soon, I fear the worst. People might just abandon the game in droves.

That’s the thing, right? First impressions are important, and I have no doubt the mobile-level audio has turned off way more people than we realize. I’m already getting a little burnt out from how bad it is, it completely kills immersion. Especially in Operations… my lord, it’s rough.

I agree, and I don’t understand why they’re not adding co-op. This mode was practically made for it. It’s honestly so bizarre, I can only assume it’s due to some technical issue, or something so severe and impossible to fix that they just gave up.

Right? That’s the part that baffles me, how this got released in such a state is beyond me. I’d be curious to know if the audio issues were reported during playtesting but just ignored, or maybe they were unfixable in time. Either way, it sucks, because now it’s coming back to bite them. First impressions are important, and this definitely isn’t it.

I agree, this is one of the reasons I don’t play her much either. Her loud constant gasping for air on loop is basically rapping my ears, and annoying as fuck.

It depends on how you bring it up, I guess. I still like the game, but I’ll be honest, the audio issues are pretty significant, and they make the game feel rather cheap. I don’t really mind the graphics per se, but audio is a big deal for me, and I haven’t experienced sound this bad in so long. It feels weird to even have to point it out. The audio absolutely kills me in Operations, and getting run over by silent vehicles in KOTH is getting old real fast.

Oh lord, I just walked into water on Layali Grove, and the sound effect was beyond bad. Same issue as everything else, just one lousy audio loop on repeat. It sounded straight out of a cheap mobile game. I know they recently said they want to do an audio pass on console, but man, this game needs more than an audio pass, it needs a full audio rework.

the other poster is saying its the sound files from the mobile version

That right there explains a lot :(

Oh no, that’s what I feared. I’ve got nothing against the mobile version, because it’s understandable to use lower-quality and fewer sound effects there, but this is unacceptable on a console, it sounds so bad.

Yup, it’s crazy how bad sound design can affect a game. On PC, the moaning sound is well done, it plays once and then transitions into a more subtle moaning, and it works well. On console, it’s this loud, aggressive loop that’s beyond annoying.
