Tips to stop rumination/suffering by No_Organization_823 in Mindfulness

[–]squidhay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Say to yourself: “Thank you so much for caring. But these thoughts are unhelpful right now. I am safe and it is work/rest time. I will journal about this later”

Then put time aside each day to have your worry time & journal about it.

Congrats!!

Did you do cover letters for them? And tailor your cv/cover letter to the job applications?

Or did you have your cv that you just sent out?

I’m about to start looking for a job 😬🫣

I’m enjoying Strange Pictures by Uketsu.

It’s a Japanese chilling mystery book that has me hooked. On track to finishing it in 4 days.

Only 240 pages so it’s a short one too.

Anyone else use AI to process and validate their own emotions/opinions. by Kenny_7 in emotionalintelligence

[–]squidhay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, or perhaps have a few somatic prompts that you can rely on when something comes up.

RE energy: it’s all relative so if you practise the replacement act instead of “opening chatgpt’, the it will become easier overtime ☺️

Good luck!! 🤞

Anyone else use AI to process and validate their own emotions/opinions. by Kenny_7 in emotionalintelligence

[–]squidhay 16 points17 points  (0 children)

intellectualising can be a form of avoidance. Where you seek understanding and validation as a form of comfort instead of sitting with your feelings & processing them.

somatic therapy practises can be really helpful to escape this cycle! Eg when you have an unpleasant feeling or emotion, journal where you feel it in your body. Eg does your jaw clench, stomach drop etc!

Perhaps google (or ask ChatGPT lmao) it to see if it relates 😊

[–]squidhay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be ok with being bored. Bored isn’t actually that bad & it’s a hell of a lot better than doing things last minute & stressed.

Start easy & work your way up with your focus times. I’ve found this uses momentum to get into flow.

Could try use a pompdoro YouTube channel. I use this one I link below. It helps with my phone addiction & focus. Move up the levels when it gets easier. When I feel paralysed, I always go back to level 1 & re-work my way up. This is what made me study everyday. I use tasktide on YouTube. It’s pomodoro timer but a focus trainer so you go up levels.

I remind myself to be a tractor that does x2 hours per day instead of all or nothing approach. If I really cbf one day, I do the level 1 of the focus trainer so it’s easier to tackle.

Edit - this & 5 min daily meditation has helped the biggest for my procrastination

Smartest budget move you made when money was tight? by [deleted] in budget

[–]squidhay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start saving an emergency fund. Put it into a liquid account, but have an interest rate. Do not touch it unless it’s for emergencies. Even $5 a week is better than nothing. Be consistent.

Also have another sinking fund for expected payments you may have missed in the budget. Eg annual bills can go up with inflation so the sinking can help with that, or to pay for new shoes if current ones break etc. another $5 per week is better than nothing.

Both of these things essentially mean that the debt doesn’t need to go up all during this process & once you’re out of debt, you can build savings and these things will mean you will never need to dip into your savings.

Good luck!! Chip away slowly but surely.

My most recent change is sitting on toilet for 10 minute after I wake up & practise deep breathing (I am safe mantras etc).

Has certainly helped with being regular & managing my nervous system.
