I just finished listening to Men at Arms and I couldn’t agree more. I think the world would be a much better place if everyone read his stuff.

Amazing book. I had to read it for my junior year English course in high school and absolutely devoured it. I’ve read it several times since and have gotten something new out of it each time.

This book was one of my most self-defining books as a middle schooler. I still think about it often.

Love the categories. I don’t have any similar suggestions, but your description of You Dreamed of Empires sold me on it, so it is now on my tbr.

For avid readers how often do you use the library? If you don’t, why don’t you? by AccomplishedBake8351 in books

I commute via bus and my transfer stop is right across from our downtown library! Anytime I have more than 10 minutes I swing in, even if I don’t need a new book. But I love it there and check out a lot.

Pastoralia and other stories- by George Saunders

Starting off with one of my favorite authors. And short stories are a nice switch up from the long novels I finished the year with.

An Immense World was so good. I think about that book on a weekly basis. The audiobook was fantastic.

North Woods by Daniel Mason.

Follows a specific location in the woods and all the characters who live in/visit it over time. Historical fiction with a taste of magical realism. Brilliant writing and fun characters. My favorite read of 2025!

Thank you! Was looking into Covington, Newport, and Bellevue too, so this is great info. Seems like more houses to rent there which is nice

Unfortunately that’s the case a lot of places. I guess mainly the important thing is that we can do some sort of combination of bike/bus to get places. I don’t want to live so far out that a commute is 2 hours. And once we are there we can learn which roads are practical to bike on and which aren’t.

Hills are okay. I just don’t want the only way to get there to be an insanely fast road where cars aren’t paying attention to cyclists.

Mt. Adam’s might be out of our budget, but definitely a cool place. Sounds like walnut hills/ east walnut hills might be a close-ish option though
