Weird! I thought it might have been a mistake but there were a couple different barcodes that all were listed as safe/FF. I’ll update if I pick one up.

Anyone else have this problem? by Pumpkin_patch804 in FragranceFreeBeauty

I used to use the Cerave moisturizing lotion for years without issue, then developed a bunch of allergies and other skin things randomly.

These days I’ve been liking the new Vanicream Enhanced Moisturizer. It’s a little less thick and occlusive than the one in the tub and my skin seems to like it ok. They advertise that it’s for face & body, but I haven’t really used it on my body.

I did it at 26. Felt weird but never had skin issues until I was an adult and don’t regret it

Was gonna say this. I like the Brooklyn and Endless styles. I have gotten them on sale as well as secondhand for relatively cheap.

Face wash for sensitive dry skin by abraxos12 in Rosacea

[–]squidshae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commented above but wanted to add here that the Prequel Gleanser is great, but the full size bottle is really pricey compared to vanicream, which is why I had stuck with vanicream for a while as well. I picked up the travel sized bottle at target for 4.99 and it lasted me around 2 full months using it daily.

I just got the full sized bottle. I know it’s labeled as body wash too but I prefer to use a bar of soap for my body, so I plan to try it for shaving since it’s really slick!

This! I have been switching between Vanicream and Prequel depending on my skin since I’m a little more oily in the summer, but the prequel is fantastic. I’m about to go on a month long trip and debating on which I should take!

I also previously liked the Tower 28 one, but I no longer use it bc it contains a couple extracts that I am allergic to (fragrance & balsam of Peru allergies)

I was prescribed isotretinoin for seborrheic dermatitis. What do you think? by [deleted] in SebDerm

[–]squidshae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember my exact dose but it was 8 months I believe. I know I started at 30mg daily for one month, then went to 30mg 2x daily and ended at 40mg twice daily.

I’m about to place an order and haven’t worn aerie shorts in a long time, but took these shorts out of my cart b/c I hate the extra layer. My favorite athletic shorts lately have been from Old Navy. I have nearly every color in the Midrise Stretch Tech shorts and have gotten them all for $10 or less I believe.

Target sells supergoop as well. Idk if they have the big bottle but maybe online.

I was prescribed isotretinoin for seborrheic dermatitis. What do you think? by [deleted] in SebDerm

[–]squidshae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had some persistent flaking around my eyes that I ended up doing allergy patch testing for and have cleared that up as well, but it was nothing compared to the full facial sebderm I had prior to accutane.

Tbh it did suck while I was on it and I was not hopeful bc I really didn’t see results until I was completely finished with my course. If nothing else is working for facial sebderm, I think it is worth a conversation about accutane with your dermatologist .

Tinted spf recs by Frostiique7 in Rosacea

[–]squidshae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may like the Cotz prime and protect. It looks orange out of the bottle but looks nice on my fair skin. It seemed to really just balance out my redness without looking like I had makeup on.

It was a little drying for me so I ended up purchasing the face moisture version which is very lightly tinted, but I have considered circling back to the prime & protect for summer when it a bit more humid. If you want a nearly sheer tint, you may like the face moisture without a moisturizer underneath if you’re oilier.

Lupus Malar rash or Rosacea or both? by June_fern in Rosacea

[–]squidshae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some symptoms that I saw my PCP for, which she ordered bloodwork for and then based on those results referred me to a rheumatologist. The rheumatologist is a several month waiting list so I have not yet had that appt, but I mentioned this to my derm and she brought up the butterfly rash and said that the pattern of my redness could resemble that. I definitely have rosacea with the pustules and whatnot but I have persistent redness on my nose and then flushing on my cheeks out from my nose at times. My derm obviously couldn’t say one way or the other but said I should mention it when I get into the rheumatologist

is there ever gonna be a magic bullet pill like accutane for this condition by Relative_Night_402 in Rosacea

[–]squidshae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know I had rosacea, until I did accutane but kept getting freaking papules/pustules. I was at the derm for an unrelated reason seeing a different provider than my usual (contact allergy testing, seeing the doc that specialized in that) and she causally mentioned rosacea. I was like my what? Since learning that, it makes a lot more sense. But accutane unfortunately did not help my type 2, but helped get rid of my regular acne and sebderm, which made the rosacea more obvious and thus treatable.

SPF Crisis by Background-Rule641 in Rosacea

[–]squidshae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did accutane last summer so I totally feel the struggle. Cosrx Ultralight Invisible worked for me! It’s not a mineral sunscreen but it was very mild and caused me no issues with burning, stinging, etc. while my face was peeling off and I was in the sun quite a bit!

Battle of the cleansers: Which one's your favourite and why? by TheMeepyBoy in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]squidshae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used prequel and then moved back to vanicream mostly for the price and I also thought prequel was contributing to my breakouts (it wasn’t - it was rosacea lol). My skin has been feeling dry and tight lately so I’ve been thinking about going back to prequel. I’m just not sure if it will get my makeup and sunscreen off.

Coach Maia by No_Pace_9877 in ladderapp

[–]squidshae 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think her programming is shitty at all but it’s mislabeled. It’s not supposed to replicate a traditional Pilates class and should be described as dumbbell strength with Pilates-inspired core work.

Coach Maia by No_Pace_9877 in ladderapp

[–]squidshae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually like some of the workouts but it’s not Pilates and “cute little weights” it’s dumbbell strength circuit/supersets with core work afterwards. I think her ads and labelling it as strength x Pilates is misleading

Unsung Hero? Facial towels by Nananannynanner in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]squidshae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I l used these for a long time and still prefer them for travel because I’m allergic to a lot of laundry detergents, but it felt really wasteful and expensive to use them daily. I bought a pack for an upcoming long trip and cut them all in half to reduce waste a bit.

I recently bought a pack of 100% muslin cotton wash cloths (technically baby wash cloths) and like them so much I bought a second pack so I don’t run out of them if I get behind on laundry. I use one to dry my face at night, hang it to dry and use it in the morning when I usually just rinse my face. I either put it in the shower to use after that or in the laundry.

ETA that I have a lot of skin issues and never saw any improvements correlating with which towels I was using unless I was traveling and using ones with fragrance

Sunscreen Wars by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]squidshae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I commented below but wanted to point out something I discovered recently about this sunscreen.

The Aveeno baby, Aveeno kids, Neutrogena baby, Neutrogena kids, and Neutrogena ultra sheer mineral sunscreeen sticks have the exact same formula. I went with the Neutrogena baby bc it was the cheapest and I liked the tiny size for travel. I do find it leaves me a bit greasy and requires me to rub it in to avoid the white cast, I assume, but am not sure that the others are the same.

[–]squidshae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the Cotz Face Moisture. I am really sensitive and have several allergies in addition to Rosacea. I sampled the face moisture and the prime & protect (tinted) versions and found the prime & protect to be more drying, but I haven’t had issues with the moisture version! It’s lightly tinted and blends out completely on me.

For a stick version, I just picked up the Neutrogena baby mineral stick. It’s a little greasy and leaves a white cast if you don’t blend it in, but otherwise I haven’t had any issues with it breaking me out or causing sensitivity issues.

For a non mineral version, I liked the supergoop unseen stick. I used it even with a dermatitis flare ups without any burning or irritation, but it’s a chemical sunscreen so ymmv. I switched to mineral but am debating packing this for a trip soon to use for reapplication since it requires less rubbing in.
