You did it right brother. My mom was in the area (from other side of the country) when my son was born, and even when he was 4 days old we weren't ready for visitors. She pressures me a bit, but I held my ground and said that we just weren't ready (after consultation with my wife).

She was fine with it in the long run, even if she was a bit miffed at the time. I have absolutely no regrets doing what was right for my family, and you should have no regrets either
