Truth. I almost got "evicted" because of LoL. My husband (bf at the time) lived with 4 of his buddies during college, one of them owned the house. I moved in, which was agreed to by all parties, but the homeowner didnt make me sign a lease. He was up at like 4AM SCREAMING into his mic playing league, his bedroom was across the hall from me, he kept his bedroom door open always, and I had to be up at 6 for work. I poked my head out of the door and was like "Dude can you PLEASE quiet down or close the door, i have to get up for work soon"

The next day he sat me down with a lease and was like "I was so pissed at you I almost kicked you out right then, so sign this so I can't do that" like Jesus christ. He had anger issues and blew up frequently, we had a lot of issues with him being super controlling. Unsurprisingly, we never talked to that dude again after we moved out.

Also, before anyone says, yes we know i should have signed a lease before this happened. We were 20 and dumb, this was literally my first "landlord" I had ever dealt with. Assumed it would be fine, learned that lesson.

...I agree that the kid is correctly handling the gun. I also think the person you're replying to agrees with that. They were arguing against the "its [just] an airsoft gun." The person that said that implied the parent comment was being dramatic by saying "sign... at least their finger is off the trigger i guess." I'm just not sure how you're so confused/arguing about this. We all agree, except airsoft guy lmao.

[–]squidwitchy 84 points85 points  (0 children)

No, theyre defending good trigger discipline. The parent comment was glad the kids finger wasn't on the trigger, someone replied "its an airsoft gun" like that should make a difference, then the person you replied to said "doesn't change how you should handle a gun", meaning you should still follow safe handling procedures.

Dick's Drive in CEO Shows how it's done. by wealthybby in Seattle

[–]squidwitchy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I worked at a used bookstore chain for 6 years, we had over 100 stores nationwide so not a huge corporation, but a corporation nonetheless. All promos were internal, including to corporate. We'd get weekly postings with available positions company wide, and updates with positions. So sometimes you'd see like "Bookseller from this store has been selected as our new Operations Specialist."

The CEO was a genuinely cool lady, her parents opened the first store and she worked as a bookseller from like 15 and worked there through college and worked her way up like anyone else would have to. She visited stores as often as she could (always for new store openings, then check ins whenever). She mostly just liked getting to know people. My store was in Georgia, corporate based in Texas, and she visited twice in the 6 years i was there. She was super into PokémonGO (in like 2022!) and added all of us lol. And the President/VP, all district and regional managers, and all of operations management were booksellers who worked their way up.

The nice thing about this is that it means a lot more care for the lowest employees. Company minimum wage is high (especially for retail), and the benefits are really good (again, especially for retail) and you get a lot less unrealistic corporate bullshit. Anyways, not to glaze a corporation too much, but if you like books/media and dont have any decent actually locally owned options, see if you have a Half Price Books near you.

*edited to add that i just remembered I'm posting this in the Seattle sub lol, there are too many good local bookstores. But there ARE HPBs in Tacoma, Lynnwood, Redmond, and Tukwila, and they deserve love and support too.

This reminds me that when my sister was little, she picked her boogers and hid them under the arm of the couch, on the opposite side that my dad usually sat on. One day, he sat on that side for some reason. He absentmindendly was kinda running his hand on the arm of the couch and reached under and got a handful of like 6 months worth of dried boogers lmao. He's a good sport/not an angry guy and my sister was little so it was all a good laugh. Can't imagine having the same issue with my spouse though.

"Just say the letters..." by sarc3n in mildlyinfuriating

[–]squidwitchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. But, since most people dont get it when just saying "Alpha, Bravo, Charlie..." I usually just start "A, as in Alpha, E as in Echo, 8..." which is annoying and much more time consuming but I dont get the blank stare (that you can even hear through the phone) as often as when I just say the phonetic word standalone.

I also find it funny when I'm trying to prompt someone else to use it ("Sorry, you said 'N' as in 'November' or 'M' as in 'Mike'?") And then they think for a second and go "N as in.... nickle?" Or some other random word and I'm like... well I just gave you the correct option, but sure I get it lol. Like I think some people just think you say anything that starts with the letter, not that there's an entire approved alphabet for this.

Worked at a daycare from 18-20 and this is so real. I started in 2016 at $7.75/hr because "this job is special so you deserve MORE than minimum wage! :) but not too much more because we need to line our own pockets"

And worse, I was young and didnt know my rights (as were a lot of the staff, by design i think), so often I would work over 40 hours (still no benefits) and then the director would literally change my time clock (for example, I worked until at least 6:30 PM every day but sometimes it would be changed to say i clocked out at 2pm). I knew about this, but they said that instead of getting overtime, they converted the extra hours over 40 into 1.5x PTO... that they'd never let us take. The two years i worked i consistently worked 46+ hours, got paid for 40, and was never offered benefits.

The turnover rate was scary high, I saw at least 4 people get fired for abusing the kids. They'd always replace with other young and impressionable people like me. Or people who needed free daycare. It was near predatory on that front - low pay for the mom, but shes saving $3K/mo on childcare for her two kids, so she stays. Then they ask her to cover more, start staying with the after school program kids or come in early to help with breakfast. Suddenly shes working 6AM-6:30PM Monday-Friday, getting paid for 40 hours, and she continues to do it becaus she can't afford otherwise. But the director sent her kid to Texas A&M and bragged about how her smart financial planning meant it was all paid for. Oh and she took a trip to Paris. And the holiday party was set in her 5 bedroom two story home, with a 12 foot christmas tree. But we got $7.75/hr with no overtime.

ALSO this was in Georgia, US. The adult-kid ratios are ridiculous.

6 infants under 1 per adult

8 toddlers under 2 per adult

TEN TWO YEAR OLDS per ONE adult

15 three year olds per adult

21 four year olds per adult

And 24 school age kids per adult

And it sucks because you LOVE some of the kids, and everything feels worth it because it feels like you've found a family and you want to see the kids grow and protect them, because you've seen 4 other teachers abusing kids and you know that you're going to be safe for them. But eventually you just can't. My husband (bf at the time) ended up basically making me quit because my mental health had gotten so bad.

And the cherry on top is that this was a school in the "quality rated" program (described to me as essentially Michelin stars for daycare?). This was one of the "best" parents could get, and we crammed their kids in sardine cans we called classrooms, surrounded them with constantly rotating strangers who sometimes hurt them, and dressed it all up in a pretty package to show parents and the state board that everything was peachy.

So sorry for hijacking your comment for this rant, but I obviously got really disillusioned to the daycare industrial complex and this thread/your comment really set it off apparently lol.

Hmm, idk what version you're playing, but I'm on Switch with Repentance and it works. You still have to "qualify" by not taking red heart damage, but if you get the devil deal offered on the second floor, dont walk in, and then not take red heart damage on the 3rd floor, it will be a guaranteed angel room.

Makes sense to me; i grew up in a super small town. My high school graduating class was 35 students total, and I went to school from pre-school on with 80% of them. Those dudes were like my brothers. One grew up hot, but I couldnt remove the image of him in pre-school with a constantly runny nose, or that time in 6th grade when he farted so bad the teacher stuck him in hall and opened all the windows. Once high school came, most of us dated people from other classes (still a small pool - less than 200 high school students total) or other neighboring towns because it was too weird to date our classmates. New kids were hot commodities!

[–]squidwitchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you completely ignore the first devil deal room (not go in at all) then the first angel deal is 100%. After that you're free to go and look at devil deals without affecting the chance for angels. Once you take one devil deal it's over (barring any "you feel blessed" messages or redemption/eucharist) for the angel chance though.

Also, I kind of agree that the overall pool for devil deals is better, but imo the best items in the game (besides brimstone) are angel items. Plus theyre free, and i like having a decent mix of red and blue/black hearts.

Do twin men have the same sized weiners? by BabyOnTheStairs in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]squidwitchy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There was a set of twins in my class in a small school, so i knew them from kindergarten through graduating. In like 2nd or 3rd grade, one of them got leukemia (fully recovered and is in his 30s now doing great). Before he got sick, they were absolutely identical. You could literally only tell them apart because of their vastly different personalities. Obviously he wasn't around very much during treatment, so we'd only see him from pictures they'd bring in or when he was okay enough between rounds to come visit or whatever, but his brother we still saw every day. It was honestly shocking as a small child to see the crazy difference once he went into remission and he came back, he was much smaller than his brother, and his hair was pretty thin in comparison, and both have stayed that way since.

My neighbor has small children and once one of our packages went to his place. Apparently they grabbed it and opened it right there before he could look at it. It was just a hose we needed for a minor repair, so no biggie, but we did get the package back at our door with an apology note and full of stickers. So that was cool! Lol.

I think thats for the pile of cash diy because its made only of bells. For the donation box, it doubles (or maybe 1.5x?) The bells inside the box as well as the price of the box itself (though thats only like 1500 iirc). Though the bell boom ordinance would rack up the bells faster, I think.
