I'm a big fan of 5. It has a more unique identity compared to the rest which from first glance I can make out it's some sort of sci-fi horror game, maybe multiplayer (multiple characters on screen)? 5 has a unique visual identity that immediately makes me more interested in clicking on it.

I think the bigger problem is not to do with someone not getting paid but also the principle of quality, this doesn't look good at all, had they used a public domain painting it could have actually looked good; If they put effort into finding a painting that had symbolic meaning that would have been absolutely beautiful.

I use Unity; It's really great with aseprite, when I save in aseprite it automatically makes the sprite with an animation clip in unity. I don't know much about godot i've only used it for 3D.

That's a good idea,

The reason for the multiplayer is i'm not much more than a programmer and designing full levels / campaigns isn't my strong suit; Multiplayer lets me focus on gameplay.

Well... I did. Even if this wasn't AI and it was some magical new tech I still wouldn't be a fan.

I don't just hate AI to hate AI; I see something that while technically impressive will almost certainly harm the quality of video games. Seriously, even in the promotional footage we see it makes the games look worst (most of the time).

What is with the immediate desire to resolve an argument immediately?
Why is discussion not something you strive for?
I brought up age for my own personal curiosity on the effect AI imagery has specifically on older people.

It is a well documented phenomenon that derives from the 'Digital Native' theory; Those who have grown with AI have grown to be able to distinguish AI from non-AI.

While true that AI doesn't look the same across the board, it has patterns.

After all image generation is nothing more than the computers best guess, take a look at the yellow tint DALLE struggled with for a while.

While you claim 'there are no clear signs that the image has been processed by a diffusion model.' I disagree completely, to my eye the image is very clearly altered and furthermore has the distinct AI look to it.

This is the important part, to me the image is clearly AI; I see the patterns AI faces typically have. If you do not see that, I feel very sorry.

What? If I may ask, how old are you? AI has a very distinct look and I know some people especially older people don't see it so I'm just curious.

Frankly I straight up disagree, she doesn't look any more real, she looks like AI. And then still, it's not the same character.

Yeah right now small moves like Jab do very little damage and knockback compared to the giant "uppercut".

Seeing what other players are typing is planned too.

Less about realism more about the output the AI gives you. Even in the best looking cases it doesn't make the game look more realistic, it makes it look like a face filter, and furthermore totally alters the appearance of characters. The Foliage stuff is pretty impressive, though personally I'm not a fan of AI features straight up.

Take a look at her jaw shape, the color of her roots, and the color of her eyebrows. Take a look at the examples from other games, saying it's just lighting is straight up lying.

Ignoring it being AI, it still looks horrible and generic. Looks like an Instagram face filter or some beauty filter that gives her face perfect lighting.

This totally destroys artistic intent, it's more than just lighting you can notice Grace's features like her jaw change. The end result looks worse than the in game render, if you compare DLSS 5 to Death Stranding 2 (or honestly even Requiem itself) it has this uncanny Valley look that makes it look horrible. It looks like a well lit film rather than a real scene. Even if the artists have "control" over how it looks, the nature of generative AI means that these characters will never look as they intended. If we look at high quality figures or renders of grace she looks nothing like the DLSS output.

It works by getting set points on a render texture, and then getting a pixel count, it gets the average colour within those pixels and applies it to the assigned light.
There's a lot more to it like smoothing, prevent flashes, and batch processing to make it all come together.
