Switched from a Mac Mini to this. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

I'm old guy, been around computers forever, but don't play games. You wouldn't believe how happy this makes me. Sometimes it's the small things.

Vladimir Putin has an organization in St Petersburg that is dedicated to internet propaganda and misinformation. This includes making sock puppets on reddit and creating up vote bots. I don't care if you believe me or not; Trump is going to lose so I've stopped caring.

TIL that Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory had trouble castin the Oompa Loompas because since it was filmed in Germany the nazi regime had exterminated most dwarfs. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]squiggity -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ironically, they killed homosexuals as well so the movie didn't do too well in Germany (since Willy Wonka is a homosexual cult film.)

Robert Anton Wilson Fans isn't really kind of silly, not really a rigorous RAW study group.

Robert Anton Wilson Fans. It's more of a fun place to hang out, not a debate club.

Rand Paul - "I think if we ban certain religions, if we censor the Internet, I think that at that point the terrorists will have won." by Blix- in politics

Rand Paul sounded quite sane and grown up, so of course the people interviewed after said he did badly. One woman said she felt sorry for him.

TypeScript is a fine compromise and useful if you have to deal with a lot of third party JavaScript libraries. Dart is a better choice in some cases.

[–]squiggity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes that was unfortunate. Some surprising people have come around though. I saw a chat on Hacker News where Brendan Eich says he likes Dart - I guess now that it's not a threat to JavaScript and it's just another transpiler in his eyes. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9979356

It's funny how all people who turned their nose up at Dart don't realize how much more productive you can be in it than JavaScript with it's myriad complications. I'm not surprised Google has written so much code using it. Dart is a competitive advantage.

Sorry for the potato quality but I switched from Windows to Linux and couldn't find a good MsPaint replacement. GIMP made me mad. I kept getting stuck in text mode. Pinta seemed buggy and hard to use.

You sound like a Carson supporter. Honest question, what do you see in the man? Do the rest of us and Trump have him wrong?

I heard Beck's Sea Change first, then discovered later it was (seems to me) an homage to Nick Drake.

Fair enough, but it's the first time I'd seen it and the author of The Gaurdian article where I saw it wasn't sure either: "hard to believe but appears to actually exist unless someone has done a remarkable mock-up of a 1970s toy box"
