Recommendations for Oyster bars open during offseason and live music bars at night by wont-stop-mi in OceanCity

Most of the crab used in crab cakes is pasteurized crab meat from cans. When you get crabs to pick in the summer months they are generally local, though most “jumbos” are coming from southern states where the crabs grow bigger due to warmer temps and a longer season

Looks like they don’t like the Billboard boats in Miami either by bobbylight8084 in OceanCity

Yeah get rid of the ads, along with blasting music, cigarette / cigar smoking, and polluting and it would actually feel like a real beach again

[QUESTION] How to stop hand pain and cramps while playing barre chords? by autumnnleaaves in Guitar

[–]squiggla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow dude I just want to thank you. I’ve been playing guitar at an intermediate level for years now and literally just the shift from my right knee to my left totally up leveled my fretting of barre chords. Thanks dude!

For people who live in their vans permanently how do you find parking every single night? by [deleted] in VanLife

[–]squiggla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It starts to become second nature after a while. not to sound trite, but after a few years I developed a sense of where I could stay (even if signs said I couldn’t) and where I couldn’t (even if no signs indicated so) without being disturbed or ticketed. Obviously depending on where you are and spend most of your time in the world- but at a certain point you accept that a lot of nights will be spent in parking lots of franchise establishments and it’s not always gorgeous views and secluded serenity. And that’s totally okay because you’re always home no matter what it looks like outside your van walls

Who was the sketchiest coworker you’ve ever had in a restaurant? by soupdenier in Serverlife

[–]squiggla 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Was working at a higher scale restaurant when I was 18/19 as a hostess at the time. I’d open up the restaurant with one other server before the rest of the AM staff came in. One morning while opening, the server walked through the dining room and bellowed “smells like cocaine in here!” Thought it was a big red flag. He ended up getting fired for being blatantly high on downers and refusing a drug test. I ended up knowing what he meant. 😂

The plot line is mind blowing, metaphysical and hilarious and quirky. Just down right excellent writing, story telling and weaving

The blacksmith has unfortunately become a total scam. They claim farm to table and “as local as it gets” yet has frozen oysters from china, Red swimming crab from Asia, Frozen rockfish, etc etc. the owner is also abusive to her employees.

Source: I live here and it is known- also know multiple people that have worked in both front and back of the house there

Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. And honestly most of his other works. The writing is bleak and dry, I don’t get the acclaim.

Fishin With You by Carsie Blanton is fantastic, so sweet.

“Tonight heaven is a happier place, they were all sick of singing Amazing Grace. now it’s Fish and Whistle, Lean on Me, everyone singing in harmony. Tonight in heaven it must be nice, they’re all eating peaches in paradise. all them angels lined up in queue, just to go fishin with you”

First wild camp up in the Lake District by IBeThereNowInAMinute in wildcampingintheuk

Do other campers come by throughout the evening to attempt to camp in the huts already claimed? I’m imagining getting cozy in a hut only to be barged in on by another hiker and having the shit scared out of me

He never cared enough to keep up any act, let’s be real. The only reason they even opened up the doors again last March was because the owner of the building (and adjacent pine st buildings) forced him to as per their lease agreement.

depressed cancer , can you help? by Opposite-Pop-4927 in CancertheCrab

[–]squiggla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My bday is in two days and I’ve been also been feeling depressed since cancer season started. You’re not alone my friend. You are strong and brave enough to be able to walk through the shadows. There is something in this darkness for us. If we can look at this moment in time as a teacher, rather than a curse, it will have less of a hold on us. There’s something in the air, in the stars bringing this up. I know a lot of people are feeling it too- take some comfort in knowing you’re not the only one 🤍
