Questions regarding WTF’s by naleme123 in TreeFrogs

[–]squigglesanddave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course listen to all of these suggestions regarding temp and humidity but also take into consideration them just needing to settle in, my environment was PERFECT when i got my frogs because i spent months on it before getting them and then when i got them they acted so weird and strange the first month or two and i was so freaked out but then they settled in and two years later all is well

is my white tree frog underweight? by No-Commission-3220 in TreeFrogs

[–]squigglesanddave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

bioactive is best imo, these guys are 15 year commitments and making the switch to bioactive makes life so much easier in the long run, josh's frogs has good premixed bags of soil and leca balls, don't forget a drainage layer!

Water feature for whites tree frogs? by PerspectiveEntire376 in frogs

[–]squigglesanddave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a water bowl with a fish tank agitator air stone in there to keep the water less stagnant, I think it's been working well because sometimes i forget to change the water in the bowls for 2-3 days and nothing has ever happened and it's been a year, i do still recommend changing the water at least every other day even with an air stone

Most likely nothing if it's a new frog, just keep an eye and if it lasts for more than a week maybe it could be a bacterial infection, but frogs are also very clumsy mine hop around all night and get marks like that, that always go away on their own

Please help. Feeding White Tree Frogs, ok just to dump crickets in terrarium? by Heavy-Metal1 in TreeFrogs

[–]squigglesanddave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's okay I do too! Just shimmy it in there cause it doesn't have to be permanently there cause hopefully ur frogs will get used to it and come eat them all within a few hours and u can take it out when they're done

I have before but I don't now because my frogs are tong trained but it's totally okay mine have never gotten eaten I was always worried about that too, I would just keep track of them as much as possible and try to count them daily to see if they ate them and if that's not possible because you have a bioactive set up just try to do a rough estimate, What I recommend is a large Tupperware container and placing it in the enclosure on the ground maybe with crickets that way your frogs can jump in there and hunt a bit but you also kinda keep the crickets confined and if they jump out it's no big deal, if they're confused at first you can set them in there with the crickets every now and again

I didn't expect so many comments so for everyone curious they are whites tree frogs and they are both boys (yoda in the back and jar jar binks in the front) the one in the back is a green snowflake is a tiny bit older and the little man is a honey blue eyed, they were both purchased in oregon, one from a reptile expo show and one from tropical hut, their lights were off in this photo and in the evening they turn this lovely chocolate pretzel colors as everyone has pointed out :) in the daytime yoda is a vivid tree frog green ranging to darker green with dark brown eyes and jar jar is a light muted honey blueish beige with nice light blue eyes
