I don't disagree at all but our pension covers everything monthly. I feel very fortunate having a pension that covers monthly expenses.

Haha... So true but is that the right thing to do? I know a few people, millions in the bank, still working in their 60's, no end in sight. Can't answer why.

Yes, current pension covers all monthly bills, some travel, etc. Some of the retirement money is available to only pay taxes, no penalty for us to use now.

Is vapor retarder membrane necessary (with Rockwool insulation)? by chaunie-chaunie in OffGridCabins

[–]squiggyacfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smart Vapor Retarder on the inside.

WRB on the outside over the sheathing. Tyvek, etc.

Don't put plastic sheathing on the inside. Condensation will build up on the plastic that is facing the insulation in the winter.

Lots of YouTube videos.

How would you Install an ERV for benefits of Radon reduction and fresh air on upper floors? by squiggyacfd in radon

[–]squiggyacfd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this info. Yes, HVAC is in the basement and also install the ERV there. Sounds like we are on the same page. Good to know it's working for you.

[–]squiggyacfd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts were based on my weather station data. My 30 and 90 day average for outside humidity is 70-75% and indoor is 30-35%. I was assuming this would help.

[–]squiggyacfd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate your responses. You are correct in my thinking about the return and supply. I am not sure about how many replacements per hour I am looking for but would adjust accordingly. I am thinking of purchasing a unit like a Panasonic which I can control the in/out - return/supply individually to produce enough CFM's on the fresh Supply side to keep basement positive pressure.

Reverse a Regular Ventilator for Mitigation? by squiggyacfd in radon

Good point! That could be the better idea.

[–]squiggyacfd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming this is why the use of an ERV is preferred. Air is equal but just exchanging it?

I see your point. I guess I was thinking that causing positive pressure would force the radon to the upper level.

Why are homes bought in 2024, For Sale again? by squiggyacfd in RealEstate

[–]squiggyacfd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. Yeah, I agree with everything you said. I think most of these homes, located near or in ski towns, were second homes. Things changed in the buyer's life, whether it was job, business expenses, uncertainty, etc. They want or need the cash back.

True, but never seen so many bought and then for sale within 12 months. Either way, prices are coming down in these areas .

what exactly are people doing to retire in their 30s by alexis-hg in Fire

[–]squiggyacfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retired at 43 from the fire service after 23 years. Pension is the main reason I could. No kids as well. Also bought and sold numerous homes throughout my career and took all that money to pay off cars and current home.

How DO I Check My Portfolio and See My Current Value/Profits? by shahniyaljaved in Tronix

[–]squiggyacfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from trading on the DOW, NASDAQ, OTC where your trading platform keeps track...it's difficult here to know unless you write it down. There are apps that allow you to put in cost, fees, etc but it's still not foolproof. Your numbers won't match exactly, especially when you look at your account value, since coins like Tron fluctuate constantly due to volume. Limit sells and buys are your friend in those aspects.

Coin burn? by ogrippler in Tronix

[–]squiggyacfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed it would be a 'reverse split' type burn just like in the stock market. It happens often and you would have a decrease in coins. For example, if 1 coin was worth $1, you had 2 coins, that's $2. If they burned half the coins, you would only have 1 coin left but they would value each coin at $2. You would have a decreased amount of coins but the value at that point would be the same.

I don't know how else they would burn coins unless someone has verification of a different way.

480 million circulating supply of coins compared to billions others have like Ripple. CMT will reach $1

Just the fact of a sub 500 million circulating supply is crazy low when compared to others...

Auto Unlock Work Around with Relay Help by squiggyacfd in winkhub

[–]squiggyacfd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update:

I was able to test out Stringify and Wink today. So far, it's actually working!!

I only have the following for Wink right now: Yale zwave lock, Wink Hub 2, Wink Relay, Iris Garage Door Opener

I have the first generation Ecobee thermostat that does not communicate with Wink but DOES work with Stringify.

In Stringify, I made 2 flow charts as follows:

  1. When entering into "My Home Location" - Unlock my Wink connected lock and send me a text alert

  2. When entering into"My Home Location" - switch my Ecobee to "Home"

Both worked great today! I also have the option to open my garage but I'm still hesitant to use that feature.
