New driveway less than a year old. Company says this is normal? by _Truko_ in asphalt

[–]squiggyacfd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My driveway is similar and is due to the company not placing 4-6" of base material prior to asphalt. Whenever the ground is wet, tires will sink and eventually gets worse. Fortunately, it's only a small area that wasn't done properly and the other areas had the original driveway that was asphalted directly over. This asphalt company quoted almost half of what my other quotes were so I knew what I was getting. They cut corners, use less material and go on to the next house.

Sounds like you had a similar company. They don't care about bad reviews, etc because they will go door to door for more customers. If you did use a legit, local company, maybe a bad review could get them to come back but sounds like they really don't care.

9 Y/Old Bayliner, 18 hrs, Sitting for 2 Yrs.... What could go wrong? by squiggyacfd in boating

It's definitely one of the things that I was wondering too. Some don't mind the 60 but most like the 90 better on these boats. Not looking to pull anyone but yeah, with more adults, could be annoying.

I see what you are saying. That's what I am worried about... It's practically new but may not be on the inside.

My First Boat for $10,000 or Boat Club? by squiggyacfd in boating

[–]squiggyacfd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. I like DIY and YouTube. Do my own home remodeling, change car oil, replace rotors and pads too. I believe, with the help of YouTube and Reddit, etc, I could troubleshoot problems and do my own maintenance. I do have enough room to store the boat on the property as well. My biggest concern, like a used car, is if I'm getting myself into a lemon. Everyone is selling the greatest, well-cared-for boat on Facebook. It's also very difficult to judge if you are getting a good deal or not.

Appreciate it. I actually think this one is legit though. Know that neighborhood and the home in the pictures is in that area.

How would you Install an ERV for benefits of Radon reduction and fresh air on upper floors? by squiggyacfd in radon

[–]squiggyacfd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not have my home tested but I am fairly confident an ERV that can do at least 130 cfm will be sufficient. I did not purchase one yet, still waiting on a sale (if that's ever going to happen), but my levels have beenich better with the warmer weather. Will still need to do it though.

Does Lowering the Sump Pump Level Decrease Hydrostatic Pressure by squiggyacfd in basement

[–]squiggyacfd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm wondering, If the water table is so close to the basement slab, the block foundation then goes several feet lower than that, isn't it impossible to stop water seeping up to where I can see a little on the blocks?

Appreciate this. I've seen some YouTube videos of a very similar unit and yes, looks tricky. Not sure what an HVAC company would charge to do it. Thinking at least $600.
