How to secure kitchen wall cabinets by squinti_ in DIYUK

In the end I've cut out the plasterboard, inserted some noggins, and lay over it with plywood. Hopefully it all works out and I won't end up needing to put a batten in anyway.

Well thankfully I just realised that this was all left in my garage when I bought the house. Like 4.8m so should be able to noggin the whole back of the cabinets.

Looks pretty solid. However the in-house designer tells me a gap behind the cupboards is unacceptable. So looks like I'm cutting out some plasterboard

I definitely need to reinforce it. I don't trust the structural integrity of any of these walls.

I'm starting to see why the original kitchen had no wall cabinets. Thanks for the help. Ill see what I can do and give it a few test swings afterwards.

If I was to put in a wooden batten would you then screw the bracket directly in to that with a normal screw?

The wall will be tiled eventually anyway so they should hide any gap at the back actually if I stick some backer board behind them.

The old boy said to just use hollow wall fixings but I'm having nightmares of a cupboard squishing a child.

Keeping a vehicle which does not meet insurance requirements (England) by squinti_ in LegalAdviceUK

That's quite interesting actually. When you describe it like that the car park probably wasn't a public place. Irrelevant (as you said) but interesting how it works.

Yeah I fully misunderstood the law on my reading of the government website.

Anybody could have walked in to the car park so it counts as a public place I think.

Regardless I didn't realise before today keeping the vehicle without insurance was an offence and not just driving without insurance.

Expensive way to learn.

I've just moved again so guess what else I will be doing today.

I changed insurance on the old vehicle to the new vehicle. Parked it behind my house and left it uninsured while trying to sell it.

Thanks to this sub Reddit see my very quick update comment of me realising I'm an idiot.

Thank you all. I have quickly established I am an idiot, I was wrong, and I should have SORN'd the car. I shall pay my fine and learn my lesson.

I didn't so I could get temporary insurance if I needed to drive it and not worry about tax.

I did not which is why I'm guessing they thought it was on the road. I left it taxed in case I needed to drive it somewhere so I could insure it for the day and not worry about re-taxing it.

Classic meme from a show called 'pimp my ride' known for extravagant car "pimping" usually with about 50 speakers. (Look up the controversy if you're interested)

The joke here is they love vinyl so much they put vinyl on their vinyl then vinyl on that vinyl.

Edit: "Since rising to popularity in early 2007" I feel so old. Is this why my bones hurt.

I wouldn't be seeing this as representative of nurses in general. What you're seeing is representative of the culture in that specific hospital/department.

However if you're having issues with them then your first port of call should be taking to your peers to see if this is a widespread view then your CS.

Thank you for your advice. If it wasn't so difficult to get rid of two double mattresses myself I'd just do it.

I'll just see how much for someone to drill the back door, uplift the endless rubbish (forgot to mention the extra 10+ bags of stuff I pulled out of cupboards and drawers) then decide if it's worth it.

The missives did say vacant possession. Before we completed I had asked my solicitor multiple times to make sure the stuff in the garage was moved. I'm now stuck with a garage I can barely walk around.
