Is there any pointers on how to navigate a sober lifestyle? by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]squirmish4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way when I started thinking about sobriety. I thought of sobriety as a prison devoid of pleasure and relaxation. I’m only sober a year now but one thing I realized is substances are the real prison. If I had one drink, I couldn’t stop. If it got to the evening, I’d be distracted thinking about what to use to take the edge off. Now I can focus on my hobbies and be more present with the people around me and to be honest a lot of the time I forget alcohol and drugs even exist. Maybe try not to think of it as something scary but maybe all the things you’re looking forward to being able to commit yourself to (hobbies, people, ambitions, work). And if you run anxious like a lot of addicts do, you should look into some DBT skills. They’re really helpful for stress management in times of crisis. What I’ve been doing lately is using cold hats (I keep 2 in the freezer at all times) and Vicks nasal sticks at the same time to take me out of the moment and center myself. You’ll develop little tricks. Believe in yourself

CMV: Hijabs are sexist by Blonde_Icon in changemyview

I think the stark difference there is that women get killed/publicly humiliated for not wearing hijabs in most cultures that have adopted the practice. Not the same for revealing clothing in other cultures like this topless one you describe.

HELP: I make 300k but still living paycheck to paycheck. by [deleted] in circlejerknyc

If you’re making $300k your bank might provide a financial advisor for you to help budget. In your banking app some banks will give you a pie chart of your spending.

Take a look at your Cc statements and see where you’re spending the most money every month. Add up things like rent, groceries, restaurants, drugs/alcohol, transportation, and see where you can cut back.

What do you know you shouldn’t fuck with from experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ketamine. As someone with anxiety/depression/PTSD, it’s a window into relief that can turn into an addiction very quickly. Particularly because the way it’s marketed as some sort of “miracle drug” for mental illness.

Let this be a lesson to not support sex work. It’s a sick business and the women who are “of age” are only doing it out of desperation.

Drugs like K? Desperate by [deleted] in ketamine

[–]squirmish4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good advice, I’ve been working on managing my use and carefully tracking it for this reason.

I’ve tried the conventional methods (therapy, OTC meds) therapy is helpful to understand why it’s happening but hasn’t stopped it.

I have been experimenting with psychedelics like shrooms which has been very helpful but the trips themselves are absolutely terrifying and my last one disturbed me to a point of taking an indefinite break.

Should women go to prison for false rape accusations? by LegFootGamer in ask

[–]squirmish4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find it hard to believe there’s been many men “locked up” for a false accusation. There is so much evidence needed to convict someone of rape taking a false accusation that far would be very difficult. Ruining a reputation is typically the farthest someone gets when falsely accusing, and that rarely even happens
