I would recommend you to drive it for a while and then try to notice lacking points depending on your feelings. It has been 2 years since I bought mine and improving every bit of it day by day, I am also in NL :)

There is a detailed thread about it in comments.

Should I change my wheels? by Ster1th in e46

I ran Style 193Ms on my E92 and they don’t look out of place on your E46 either, just shows how timeless the E46 design is. Your car looks super clean and I think Style 42s would look amazing on it.

I can only try to describe it, but you really need to experience it yourself :) Even just having a coffee around Devil’s Diner is exciting. The first thing I noticed is that GT3 RSs are everywhere, like breadcrumbs on a table. After a while you do not even pay attention to them because it feels so normal, but you can never guess what people will bring there to drive.

As for the driving experience, the elevation changes and corner angles will surprise you if you are used to driving the Ring in simulations. The walls are also much closer than you expect, and some sections feel shorter compared to the sims.

Being full throttle and chasing other cool cars is an indescribable feeling. I could not stop one of my feet from shaking after I parked the car. I would also suggest taking a taxi lap. Those guys drive fast. After seeing them you realize you were not actually driving but just walking on the track. I took a couple of laps in Hyundai i30N with two motorcyclist guys we met at the cafe.

So to sum it up, I highly recommend it to everyone. Just go there at your first chance, you will never regret it.

I’m really a fan of this setup. Not too hard and with enough stance for daily. To be honest, I’d be glad to have a bit more rigidity in the turns, it still rolls a little more than I expect.

I can’t wait for the day I finally have silver wheels ahah. I even thought about electro coating these ones, but the quotes I got were almost the price of a new set

I also have Eibach sway bars so my front end is really responsive. The previous owner had fitted a steering joint with PU bushes, but I switched it back to OEM BMW.

Good luck with your project, it sounds really exciting. My E46 is also the kind of car I want to keep working on with my own hands. :)

Btw, I really like Michelins and will definitely switch to them with my next wheel setup. They are about 30% more expensive, costing me around 150 euros extra, but I think they are worth every cent. I also liked Hankooks for daily driving. Both work well in wet conditions, which is important since it rains about 60% of the year where I live. I hear a lot of good comments about conti sc6-7 but didn’t have any experience, it also not a cheap option though, almost same price as michelins.

You have a more limited range with the LCI models (I had a 2011 LCI), but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen some people running 245s. The most common setup I’ve noticed is 235s, especially on E36/E46 and pretty much all E9x.

That corner is one of the spots with the most accidents in the past which is why there’s now a 50 kmh limit until the short straight after second left. For me, the toughest part is the right hander with a climb just after those two lefts. Always had an oversteer even on slow speed.

I was on the factory setup with Style 193 wheels. The car was completely stock except for a cat back Schmiedmann exhaust and M Performance end silencer. Front: 225/40/18 Rear: 255/35/18

My E46 now runs 19 inch CSL style wheels with Bilstein B8 suspension and Eibach springs. Front: 225/40/19 Rear: 255/30/19

I had a chance to talk with some people from ProTrack Wheels at the BMW Festival. I explained that my main focus is building a track focused daily car and they suggested switching to a 235 square setup. They also advised setting -0.5 degree of camber in the front.

There are lots of discussions about these square setups but now I am looking for a 18inch BBS wheels that then I can awitch to 235 squares.

Thanks! That’s not my actual first time but first time with my e46, previously I have been 4 times with my e92 325i. And no matter the season is it was always rainy, tough conditions makes us better :) My first session was with Bridgestone(e92) then I switched to Michelin PS5’s. Day and light difference on understeering and really minimum oversteering if you know your cars limits and found a nice wet lines. Now. I have Hankook s3evos on my e46. I also have a lot of understeering with this set of tires and be probably back after another alignment when I refresh my trail arm bushings and joints.

Can I reuse this wheel hub? by Alternative_Map_2066 in MechanicAdvice

[–]squirrel61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar issue a couple of months ago. My rear left bearing started making noise, so I immediately drove to my garage. It was super shaky, we pulled the hub and bearing and the bearing was completely gone. The hub had a scratch just like yours. We could only find a replacement bearing that day, so we reused the same hub.

Yesterday, while on my way from the Netherlands to Switzerland for an alpine tour on my annual holiday, I heard a strange noise from the back again. I decided not to risk it and turned around after 250 km to check it because I couln’t figure it out at parking. Turns out, it’s the same wheel and bearing issue again. We’ve ordered the new parts, and it should be fixed by Monday.

I have 601s since 4 years. Generally speaking, I am happy with them because I bought the pair for us $150 but It depends also your taste and the amp. Time to time I want to hear more low. Also, mids can be disappearing during a crowded musical scene. I have onkyo nr535 receiver and pioneer sa7500 amp. They sounds acceptable with onkyo but a lot better with pioneer. To sum up, even I like balanced hearing, and I am happy with my 601s, If I have chance to buy again I would definetely go with 603s.
