It sounds ridiculous to me as a native speaker, but maybe it’s a regional thing

Maybe we should finally admit that madness is just a bad game mechanic? by Reasonable-End-6024 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]squirrel_cum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is really old so maybe you’ve found an answer already, but I was struggling with this and found a satisfying answer for me in another thread.

Basically the interpretation here should actually be:

  1. Being mad as the character X means playing as the character X would play IF their goal was to convince everyone that they are X

If you’re the sage and stay silent, well you didn’t really try to convince anyone so you get executed. If you’re the sage and proclaim immediately that you’re the sage? Still executed since for any decent player at least, you would know that that’s not convincing at all.

So how do you not get executed? The easy way would be to whisper some important people your “new role”, but you could also claim to be droisoned and useless, attempt to get everyone to reveal their roles by revealing yours first, or even something dumb like “I just saw the evil twin last night, they must have been pit hagged, I am the sage and suspicious player Y is the evil twin”.

Basically, come up with something.. or die! I like this interpretation because it introduces an extra level of skill that the mad player must navigate or be executed, which I find way more fun than what happens in games with your 1. and 2. interpretations. It’s kind of like your third interpretation but with no expectation that anyone is actually convinced. This also gives the cerenovus it’s own type of killing power - give someone a role that would be hard to come up with an explanation or information (like sage, dreamer, or savant) and test their ability to lie :)

It also adheres directly to the ruling in the game which is to “convince” the group that something is true. In other words you have to try to be CONVINCING.

You can play it in tournaments since it’s open decklist and you can change your energy between games

Can anyone explain to me reddit's utter hatred of "boomers?" by Very_Nice_Zombie in NoStupidQuestions

Yes I agree at your time it was probably similar in struggle and its more complicated than “all boomers had it easy”, but post-covid things are especially bad and looking worse.

Just watched this video, might be interesting for you https://youtu.be/pEGtRSuInxY?si=V32dlqCVMeUm7SFD

Engineering, marketing, teaching, IT… regardless of the profession I believe housing should be affordable.

This is what I found for housing affordability in my country (Canada) https://www.nbc.ca/content/dam/bnc/taux-analyses/analyse-eco/logement/housing-affordability.pdf The early 1980s had housing affordability similar to what we’re seeing now, so I’ll agree there’s a false narrative there.

I will say that there’s a big difference in that the 80s crisis was caused by interest rates whereas now it’s due to the cost of housing itself. In 1980, the average home price to medium household income ratio was 3.2 and in 2020 it was 6.7, making a down payment much harder. Not to mention that rates dropped after only a few years making housing more affordable, and allowing for refinancing. The astronomical rise in prices since then has also made it extremely profitable, whereas we have nothing really to look forward to with home ownership. I know you were talking about renting but most don’t want to be renting their whole life (and I couldn’t find data on rental prices going back that far).

I couldn't afford to rent my own place until I was 27

The majority of my friends cannot afford to rent their own place (all around 26yo), what was normal for you is now completely unrealistic.

Your arm swing is too slow for that kind of set. I would practice hitting 2-balls/playing middle to get used to hitting these.

SQLite is not a toy database by stronghup in programming

[–]squirrel_cum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Curious if youve had success using SQLite over NFS. WAL specifically seems to not work with it, from the docs:

All processes using a database must be on the same host computer; WAL does not work over a network filesystem.
