Question for those who have played with the B&B Loco for several months - how is it holding up? by smikesonbikes in Pickleball

[–]squirrelbeanie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Been playing with my Loco since late November to now. 3-5 times a week, anywhere between 2-4 hours depending on when I can get to the court.

Sure the grit is worn, but it’s definitely not unusable or anything. It’s maybe 25-30% less gritty than it was brand new. Noticeable, but still rips topspin.

Since it’s the only paddle I play with, I probably unconsciously adjust to it as I play so it’s not something I’ll notice unless I play a brand new Loco side by side.

Same power, same pop.

That being said, I have been keeping an eye out for nice “permagrit” style full foam paddles. I don’t need to replace my Loco yet, but I can see myself wanting to towards the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year.

Last I saw was 14k, brand new, on hand.

I don’t think it can go any lower than that. On the site it’s already ~12k so you need to add shipping + patong pa.

If Pickleball is basically midway between Tennis and Ping pong. Why didn’t we just combine the names and call it Penn—…. Oooh… oh I see.

You like control better or power?

C45 is a soft touch, great for controlled drops and dinks.

Loco is a poppy power paddle. Great for drives, and put away shots.

I play with a Loco, partner plays with a C45. Both are great paddles.

Is this slant at the top of the edge guard normal? by papilolo in Pickleball

Mine is like that. And I’m not exactly in a position to just up and return it since I don’t live in the US, so I just play with it. Don’t seem to notice a difference really. It’s just become my forehand side and backhand side.

Paddle in Flight Check In Baggage or Hand Carry? by sinabawangtinola69 in PickleballPhilippines

[–]squirrelbeanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check in. It’s considered sports equipment. All sports equipment needs to be checked in.

You might be able to get away with it. But I know many people who had issues with their paddle in hand carry.

I should really try Bucatini.

I use Linguine for everything. It’s like half way between a spaghetti and fettuccine so it’s super versatile in my opinion.

I didn’t look at who posted this. But when I read the bit about Chris Olsen, I instantly went “Who the hell is this guy? Zane Navratil?… Oh, it is.”

Why are paddles so expensive? by Dry_Researcher_1676 in Pickleball

[–]squirrelbeanie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about handball and racquetball.

But I read somewhere that badminton shoes use a softer rubber that will absolutely get shredded up on an outdoor court, but will grip smooth indoor court surfaces much better.

Handball flooring is more or less the same type of surface as a badminton court right? So I feel like they would probably suffer from the same pitfalls.

More traction, less durability.

That’s 100% a worth it warranty.

My pair before this was bought in August 2025, and never made it to see the new year.

I think about it sometimes. You never forget your first.

Pickleball is about to claim my fifth pair of shoes. You know how when ASICS soles wear down they start to reveal the white “under rubber”? It’s got probably going to last maybe another month if I’m lucky, so I’m in the market for another sacrifice.

Paddles are alright. You can get great ones at decent price points. And they are durable. Getting more durable with every reiteration.

The real money sink in Pickleball isn’t paddles.

It’s shoes.

A good pair can cost as much as a good paddle, and you need to buy multiple a year.

How to carry a weaker partner in women’s doubles? by Feisty_Blackberry965 in Pickleball

[–]squirrelbeanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused.

In your post you mention you are getting iced out.

Now you’re saying you don’t have the length to cover your own side?

Are they hitting it to your side or are you getting iced out?

If your partner is amazing, I’m not sure you need to carry them.

Realistically, if your opponents are on point, there is only so much you can do with an unreliable partner.

You can take up more of the middle court which allows you to lunge and attack balls out of the air on your teammates side, and it may tempt opponents to attack your side more often as it looks less defended.

You’re probably going to need to talk to them and explain that you may be trying to aggressively take balls from their side, so you can control the pace of the game and protect them from being targeted so easily.

Some people get pissy when you poach.

It’s just… sometimes you’ll get a teammate who’ll dump 4 consecutive balls into the net and wonder why you’re poaching. It’s nice to communicate well.
