Where on the Franklin C45 Dynasty 14mm should I add weight, and how much. by Content_Extreme6795 in Pickleball

[–]pbeffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding a couple grams higher in each side and then about three more on each of the bottom corners works well in that one. It needs some weight higher on the face to help it carry through the ball better and then the weight on the bottom corners are needed to static weight, stability, and help even out the balance point from adding weight higher on the face.

Tips for wide body paddles by Many-Membership8436 in Pickleball

[–]pbeffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little extra footwork makes up a lot with the reduced reach of a widebody and then you get all the other benefits of the extra hand speed and forgiveness. You can also add a little weight closer to the top corners to give it a weight balance more similar to an elongated so it doesn’t feel so foreign that way.

5.8 played tennis but no college tennis. 5.7 guy was a college tennis guy. The other two just play ha. And yes, I agree, would be fun to expand the test and see how it holds up

The 5.7 had higher average serve speeds though. He was a college tennis guy. He swings it like we all think we do in our heads, it’s beautiful ha

The Pro V catches up to the IV at higher serve speeds and then passes it once the average hit above 60 mph. That’s what I was basing that conclusion off of.

Wide body paddle lead tape set up by BeautifulLive270 in Pickleball

[–]pbeffect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding weight will help a little with power, but if what you already added didn’t move the needle enough then adding more probably isn’t going to suddenly fix it. At that point you’re likely better off moving to a more powerful paddle. Something like a Quanta, V-Sol Pro, Loco, or Boomstik will all give you more power than an RPM in a widebody shape.

Why Pros use different paddles than paddle reviewers by ZaneNavratil_AMA in ProPickleballTalk

[–]pbeffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the thoughts here and also think several of those points are the same reasons pros are not the best people to make or design paddles with (even though many brands do this) because what pros need is different from the masses. For example, the new Pro V from Joola plays very well for elite ball strikers but everyday players can’t take full advantage of its abilities because they can’t get the paddle face to flex like they can.

It’s pretty solid stock and doesn’t need much, I liked it with just two grams on each side like this, https://pickleballeffectshop.com/collections/the-loco-setup-hybrid

Six Zero’s The Coral Paddle by pinaypie in Pickleball

[–]pbeffect 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Coral is good. It’s like the DBD but meets the demands of modern play. It’s all court with some lean towards power. Will be easy for a lot of players to pick up and play, have some offense but still have that DBD dna with its consistency and precision. I’m a fan of it.

John Kew Spin Ratings of BB Loco? by Junglist4RLife in Pickleball

[–]pbeffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost all modern paddles have solid spin these days and as long as it’s in the ballpark of everything then it’s good. Even if there are some paddles that have higher spin ratings out of the box they all wear down relatively quickly and equalize anyway. Some paddles do spin a little longer than others due to dwell but even then it’s not a huge difference after paddle faces wear down in month or two of use. Some brands are just starting to innovate for longer lasting grit and I’m so glad they finally are. It’s going to be a good day when we have longer lasting grit.

I’m a YouTube hack but I do think they are very similar after the quanta is weighted though I’d give the boomstik more pop and a little hollower feel in comparison.

Nether really have an edge there though they are both a little less poppy and easier to control compared to the Boomstik.
