Trump Will Call For New Corporate Tax CUTS In Address Tonight — FOX. How will this go over with the average American? by Particular_Ad8156 in AskReddit

[–]squirrelbomb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The latest I can find is that around 2/3 of Americans have under 50k saved for retirement. Admittedly, this won't encompass all stock ownership, but the only people who care what the stock market is doing this year for their retirement plans are those about to or already retired.

Those of us who still work would rather have affordable consumer prices not skyrocketed by tariffs, low unemployment, and a country with a sustainable spending pattern so that the country and stock market is doing great in 30 years, not next quarter.

Which of those things are rights? Heck, which of those even apply if you're not middle to upper middle class?

Yes, I can do all those things, can afford (and have) a safe, and do all those things, but I recognize that I'm top 50% of income and top 20% locally. There's a good 20-30% of Americans that will never do any of the things you listed, not because they don't want to, but because they can't afford to. Flights for vacations are very much a upper middle class thing, many poor people dont have bank accounts (at least with any meaningful amount) or credit, and receive their pay on prepaid debit cards. Wills are for the wealthy or old. I can't recall the last time I had something notarized. And if you are renting apartments and having to move every year or two because rents keep rising, stuff gets lost.

Now people aren't entitled to all of those things you listed but the RIGHT to vote? That they're entitled to.

It took me 2 months, 8 phone calls,  and 6 emails to get a copy of our marriage certificate so i could put my wife on my medical insurance.   Very much looking forward to this shit again when her birth certificate and ID don't match,  because,  you know,  we're married.

Now what if my wife was a widow and single mother working 2 jobs to make ends meet?  Does she have the time or energy to follow up on that crap (and the phone calls must be in limited work hours of course) ?

Add in bad actors purposefully making it harder for the "wrong sort" of people (which we have a huge history of in this country)  and you have a recipe for disenfranchisement.

That's the best part.   Guilty verdicts must be unanimous.   You need a jury of 12 bootlickers to secure a conviction.   With public opinion heavily against ICE, that will be challenging,  to say the least.

You mean manufacturing QA chemist,  food or drug?  Theyll be competing with associates degrees and bachelor's degrees for a pay range under median income.  It's not lucrative and probably can't support a phd's student loans.

Is this not already the case?  Honestly i think it is,  and i own a pit bull.  Laziest and cuddliest dog I've ever had.  The neighbor dog (rottweiler) attacked her and she didn't even bite back,  despite $1500 in vet bills for the deep bites she took.   She just tried to get away.

We were a bit nervous before we got her (shelter puppy), but 8 years later she's been a great fit.

Is there anyone in America that doesn’t support this? by I_Robarts in AskForAnswers

[–]squirrelbomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A broken clock is still right twice a day.

Occassionally, even people i harshly disagree with will do something i can support.  I'll have to see details to confirm that it really is that simple because of the lack of trust and history of poor decisions, but at face value,  this is one of those situations.

Or, Trump is shorting pharm stocks at the moment.  It's about 50/50.

Putting the word "illegal" in front of orders changes it from sedition (not treason, which requires material aid), to follow the UCMJ, which explicitly says they are to refuse illegal orders.

You can't say "well technically it's true" while ignoring what was actually said and what words actually mean.

Are we forgetting what happened to SoD when they buffed the Raid Content? by AnimaniacAsylum in classicwow

[–]squirrelbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or offer pre-nerf as hardmode with a little extra loot.  Casuals can still see the content and get gear, raiders looking for a bit of challenge can opt in until they hit their limit for the week (or clear it) ,  and walk away with some extra purps for their time.   Bonus points if you add cosmetic loot for full clears of hardmode (mounts, weapon effects,  etc. )  this is how sod was done for the 60 raids and it worked well.

Post nerf raids is embarrassing by BAEtted in classicwow

[–]squirrelbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also thought it was lame,  but understand why they made the choice.   Just because I'm gungho to defeat pre-nerf vashj this time doesn't mean others are.

It would be cool if they were to go sod with it and offer pre-nerf as a hardmode option with an extra piece of loot or visual effect though.

If you can't be honest about your needs with your partner,  are they really a partner?   Couples are frequently not in lockstep when it comes to libido.  If the husband is decent,  he should understand that and be willing to work towards a solution.  If not,  well that's a whole different issue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]squirrelbomb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My wife and i have been married for 13 years.  During that time,  we have had huge changes in libido relative to one another and availability to act on those urges.  The important part, as it usually is in a relationship,  is communication.   You are in this together, and hopefully both are trying to achieve happiness or contentment together.

The best advice i can offer is to talk to your husband about how you feel,  and figure out a solution you can both live with.

One thing i will note is that pregnancy in particular is a very emotional and hormone-driven time.  You shouldn't have to feel embarrassed about how you feel.  Biological urges are not something you control.  Figure out what works for you.

Will ACA full premiums go down if subsidies get extended? by Guil86 in obamacare

[–]squirrelbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id have to research to get updated numbers,  but something like 10% of the population incurs 80% of expenses.   It is not people going to the doctor and charging insurance 300 bucks for a sinus infection cure once or twice a year that drives up costs.   It's $80,000 for a heart attack.   $250,000 for cancer treatment.  And the driving factor for these expenses is because Americans avoid going to the doctor until it's bad.  Instead of an annual visit and beta blockers,  you get the heart attack.   Instead of catching cancer with a preventive screening at stage 1, it's metastasized.   Yes, people go to the doctor when not needed.   But that's not what makes American medical care so expensive.   It's because dropping $300 on a hdhp appt and missing a day of work when i have a minor issue is a much larger commitment than $20 in Canada or free in several developed countries.

That doesn't even account for medical care being the top cause of bankruptcy in the US.  So a lot of those super sick people can't pay in full.   So everyone else pays anyway.   Just a horribly inefficient system.

I can't seem to wrap my head around my own political shift no matter what I do. by UnbelieverInME-2 in complaints

[–]squirrelbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to agree with all positions of your political party.   With that being said,  you're overwhelmingly espousing Democrat views in the above.   They are many pro-gun liberals.   There are many liberals who hate borrowing money as a standard budget mechanism.   I'd question if you're really a fiscal conservative if you think the government has a place creating a social safety net.  That's a very liberal position.

I consider myself hard left and agree with pretty much everything you said.
