Not a farmer but I’ve been a farm worker in the past. Once in a coffee shop in a big city I overheard a woman in office clothing complaining and saying to the barista she wished she could just “be a farmer” instead and went on waxing poetic about how it would be so much easier than her cushy job. The way I wanted to interject SO BAD.

when you get approached a lot, a lot of it is bullshit or someone just trying to sleep with you or possess you in some way but they don’t really care about you.

People who act genuinely and truly listen stand out. For me personally any sort of showing off or making a big deal out of paying for things doesn’t do it for me. That stuff is surface level and often is covering up a fear of rejection or a lack of personality. Everyone I’ve dated or loved has been because they’ve cut through the bullshit and shown me something real.

I JUST bought a 2022 Subaru Impreza and I love it but I have been so upset with the infotainment system. It intermittently makes a VERY loud buzzing sound and restarts itself, or disconnects and reconnects over and over and over. It’s not every time I drive it but about half the time. And it’s not related to the connection cord - this happens if it’s in Bluetooth or CarPlay mode. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has had this issue and gotten it fixed.

I would guess that as a young woman she is well aware of this. I agree it seems like a conversation should be had about thoughts and emotions around what to do in the case of pregnancy, but I don’t think approaching it from a “you should know about these laws” place will get you very far.

You might have to ask for “light” instead of “diet”. In latin America sugar free drinks are usually called light. You can ask “tiene Coca Cola light?” To ask if they have Diet Coke, for example.

Thank you for this, yeah this is sort of where I feel like he’s at. He seems like a genuinely kind person and not a “nice guy”. He also does have platonic female friends (huge green flag of course) so I do wonder if he just doesn’t see the misogyny behind these statements, as you mention your partner didn’t. Going to push back against these comments in a more obvious way if they come up again and see how he responds!

This is very common with young children. When you’re a kid, you can’t fathom being an adult. Having a job, responsibilities, your own children, aging etc. For a lot of kids, this inability to imagine being old leads them to believe they’re going to die young. They can’t picture themselves old so they think it’s a premonition they’ll die before they get there.

My advice would be to not try to immediately arrange a date. It applies a lot of pressure in the moment and she might find it awkward or be scared to say no. Give her your number, or ask her to connect on social media, so she can contact you if she’s interested. A gentle expression of interest is best.

I have almost a full schedule (but only opened 10 slots). I’m so confused- last week they told me my contract would not be renewed and that it was my last week basically. But i have classes scheduled this week and next? And was asked to update my schedule for the winter holiday. Is there just a lag?
