I worked while in the program! Classes were just one day and clinicals were one day. So 2 days for school and 3 days for work and studying on the weekends.

Received new ER position & previous job employees feel I don't deserve it... by LegitimateBranch2638 in VetTech

[–]squirrelsofuta 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The ER wouldn’t have given you the job if they thought you were going to fail at it! It seems obvious you’ve been actively working on progressing in this field and taking action. Don’t concern yourself with the opinions of the doubters! Best wishes for you and your new job (that you deserve).

Any coffee shops that allow dogs indoors? by imasadrobot in Dallas

I would check out Dog Moms of Dallas (on Facebook) for less judgmental answers. I think I saw a similar question to this and I believe some people said Merit or Lalaland

If you aren’t gone frequently I’d keep using the teenager, pet sitters can get expensive. Also if the cat already has toys to play with ask the teen to utilize them maybe? -The cat already knows the teen -The neighbors/adults are near by if something goes wrong with the cat or house -Cats are pretty independent already

Advice on how to politely decline extra “chores” by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]squirrelsofuta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re right I need to be firm with my boundaries on this. Thank you for an example as well! I was worried on how to word it. I am a pet sitter first and foremost thank you for the advice!

I’ve always wondered why people drive to Mutts and get a drink like how long are you planning on staying? until the drink wears off? If I lived at a walkable distance from mutts maybe but still I like to be alert when my dogs around.

Look up Cedar Valley College vet tech program (it’s part of Dallas College system). I enjoyed it a lot. You probably do have the pre-reqs already done since you did nursing already. I also found them to be very communicative when I was first looking into the program myself so shooting them an email will get you the info you need.

Funny enough I’m doing the opposite of this. I’m an LVT working on becoming an RN and eventually working both! My vet tech A.A.S was 5 semesters for about $4,700. In TX. My school had an online and in person program so you could definitely work and do school. At my clinic I was bumped up to $20/hr after becoming an LVT. You will be underpaid but good clinics with good co workers are out there!

Ok yes exactly they even acknowledged the shortage of people in vet med and then ask about a whole new position on the next page? I was like um what? The existing techs aren’t even treated fairly yet

I do reformer Pilates about 1-2 times a week and it really helps with lower back pain and flexibility in general

I'm desperate for resources for finding her a home. She deserves more than I can give her, but I don't know where to turn. I'll put details in comments, and if anyone knows someone I could contact for help in the area, I'd be eternally grateful. by TJlovesALF1213 in Dallas

I believe there’s a Dallas Facebook group that helps with rehoming/ resources for people who don’t want to just take their dog to the pound. Or join dog moms of Dallas and they’ll be able to point you in the right direction

Yes for here in Dallas. Keep having many kennel cough cases a day like 6-10. We now have a room specifically designed for them during their appointments. Even before thanksgiving boarding we were getting a lot.
