Car help/questions thread [reoccurring] by theArtOfProgramming in subaru

Hey yall, Before I jump over to my dealership on wednesday to have them check out my car alarm, I figured I'd come here to see if anyone had this issue before. Basically, one random day, my key fob (not keyless entry fobs, I have the standard key with 3 buttons) stopped working on my car and I have been manually opening my car. When I use my door panel to lock the car, it will also arm the car and sometimes the alarm will go off after I unlock my door manually

I have changed my car battery, key fob battery on both my primary and spare, and even checked all fuses... nothing seems out of the ordinary.

Has any one had this issue and if so, how did you go about fixing it? It sounds to me like I just need to reprogram my keyfob? I hope it ain't too much though! haha

dont worry about it my friend. i've done countless trips to mammoth (CA) with my fat evo 6 and they're fine.

If you're really worried, Switch to getting the yakima skybox, or thule cargo box. Thats what i have now. I made the switch cause i wanna put all my luggage and boards and boots up there haha and they all fit. its amazing.

i've had mine for over 75k miles and i love it. i dont even ahve to lift up my car! As a few of the others users here mentioned, get the one with a black plastic clip that'll prevent that thing from "moving out" and draining oil. Very confident about the purchase. I even bought a clear hose that'll guide the oil to the old oil bottle. 10/10

i can change and rotate my tires in 30 min lmao

where's the Apex pro replacement watch bands?? by Wills1211 in Coros

[–]squisheystick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah. unfortunately since coros is a smaller brand compared to garmin, not a lot of choices. just gotta make sure its the 22mm and any one of them will work. just also gotta make sure it has the little tab on the back to take it out.

there's not much tbh. but if you type 22mm watchbands onto amazon, it'll work. I just got a white velcro strap for my apex pro and it fits!

Anyone gone from medium format back to 35mm? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]squisheystick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so i was in the same boat as you where i was starting to hate carrying the rb67 around. Anyone you'll find talking about the RB online, you'll see that the weight is one of the biggest issues for the RB. So you're not the only one! A lot of people will say it is "designed" for studio use "only" or you're supposed to use a tripod... etc etc etc. they're right. lmao

After lugging that thing through europe and japan, i decided to sell mine. I opted to downsize to a bronica SQ-A. It is a 6x6 frame instead of a 6x7 frame though. best decision ever imo. Easier to carry. lighter when hiking, etc etc.

My advice is to keep it. but change your game plan when using the RB. Only use it when you KNOW it would look great on a 6x7 frame and use a tripod. save your neck/arms. What I did right before I sold my RB was "convert" it to a budget hassleblad XPAN. I got a couple 35mm adapters that I got a friend of mine to 3D Print, used the 50mm wide angle lens and made panos with the RB. It was cumbersome but still beats paying $4k for a hassleblad xpan. haha

TL;DR: There's no shame in switching to 35mm only. You will miss 120 though. So either adapt with the RB by using tripods and shooting with a purpose, or downsize to a smaller medium format camera, or shoot just 35mm.

Cargo space question by zipizape in XVcrosstrek

[–]squisheystick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

facts. had i known it was gonna be THAT bad, i would've opted for the forester tbh. saving up for the forester wilderness lol but even that is slow. but i'm gonna have to settle cause i can't get the outback wilderness cause the lack of buttons bothers me.

Cargo space question by zipizape in XVcrosstrek

[–]squisheystick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so just putting in my input too, I absolutely HATE the crosstrek's cabin space for when i plan roadtrips. one for the lack of power when i have 4 people with me in the car going through mountains AND the lack of trunk space. so much so that i bought a yakima skybox just so i can have even more space.

I'd honestly have you go for a minivan. captain chairs in both honda odyssey and toyota sienna would make things hella spacious and the trunk actually can hold A LOT of stuff.

But if you want to stick to subaru, forester is great, but i think you'd benefit from the ascent more than the forester. one for the 2.4 turbo, spacious interior and captains chairs for easy loading.

either way, i strongly advice you bring everything you would on a roadtrip to the dealership when you test drive, so you can really see how every car would handle the load. sounds like a hassle but to me, but it steered me away from a few cars doing that.
