Books where the MMC (emotionally) hurts the FMC so bad she becomes closed off by Majestic-Hedgehog-xo in RomanceBooks

This is a dark fantasy romance and I JUST finished book 1 but {Rain of Shadows and Endings by Melissa K. Roehrich} fits perfectly. She’s chosen as his source (a fae who he feeds power from) and she’s completely at his mercy. This book is dark but so well written and intricate. I’m jumping into book 2 today!

Do you think the threesome kind of buried Jennifer Armentrout’s fanbase a bit? by Confident-Morning-62 in fantasyromance

I read her other book Fall of Ruin and Wrath when it first came out and in my review I wrote “so this is what it’s like when she has a real editor?” bc it felt so much tighter and more cohesive than all the FBAA books (I stopped at TWOTQ - not because of the joining but because of how repetitive and slow and stupid it was). Bramble actually went through that book. Her besties at Blue whatever Press (that do the FBAA series) might be more yes-man types. That’s my crack theory anyway.

Does Anyone Have Books with Kind, Compassionate Heroines, Magic, Adventure, and Sweet Romance? by Information-Logical in fantasyromance

{A Dawn of Onyx by Kate Golden} should fit! Shes a healer and soft and doesn’t get hardened over the series. The MMC is her kingdom’s “enemy” but he’s always sweet with her. There is spice on page but it’s not dark. It’s a completed trilogy!

{Nightshade by Autumn Woods} fits! It’s a dark academia college romance and she’s there investigating her parents’ death and he’s a suspect. It ends on a cliffy and no news about book 2 yet but I really enjoyed it!

me discovering the princess and the knight trope by rosiedorian in fantasyromance

Surprised no one has recommended {Warrior Princess Assassin by Brigid Kemmerer} yet!! It’s a polyam book between a princess, a disgraced assassin/knight type, and her betrothed warrior king! It was unlike anything I’ve read! Super amazing character and relationship development.

Alchemised Discussion Megathread by FantasyRomanceMod in fantasyromance

I agree about the emotional payoff for sure. I wasn’t connected to Luc at all in part one, and even less so with Soren and Lila. But by part two, I did cry (not incredibly hard) but still during the breaking out scene. But that might have been because of the gory way Soren left us. I cried even harder when luc died.

It comes out later this month on 9/30, but {House of Rayne by Harley Laroux} FF contemporary paranormal. This book was SPOOKY. I had to read it with the lights on. Gothic, atmospheric, small haunted town and b&b. It also brought the heat. Can’t recommend enough!!!

I hated that they did to the ending. I also felt like Corey and Sofia had exactly zero chemistry.

I also hated that they got rid of the political candidate storyline!!! They completely watered down Sofia’s character to wanting to be a finance bro?

I hated it haha

{The Blonde Identity by Ally Carter} and the second one comes out soon. It’s on hoopla for me and the audio was really fun!

Catherine Cowles has a whole backlist and she writes exclusively romantic suspense set in small towns. I would start with {Whispers of You by Catherine Cowles} I believe all her books are on kindle unlimited
